Just adding me in as we moved here! Edge of Southwold. Don't get out much but love living here. Such wonderful skies and friendly people!

Is anyone out there interested in sharing having a go at local editing for Gransnet? I'd love to do it but not on my own. I'm near Saxmundham, know about this coastal area and what's on, but if we could join up to cover this large county, maybe we could drum up more interest! Can't believe how few posts there are, and yet, there is a lot going on.

I am now an out-grown Auntie so am seeking a new role ... Auntie or Granny on offer (NOTE: I have already been rejected by the youngest of my own relatives aged 10 years!)

I hated when I was a kid that I had no grandparents, but I loved the role of being an Auntie to my wonderful nieces and nephews.
Might you be lacking in any way a granny or auntie in your family life? Could you do with an additional ‘hands-on’ one? Please drop me a message if you have a space for a now Defunct Auntie!

I am 47 years old, a carer for my disabled husband and am great with kids (even if I do say so myself)
NOTE: I am not looking for sole care for a child, I am crb checked from nursery work last year and I would just like to be a gran or an auntie again

Just stumbled on this site. Did you all meet up and is there any mileage in (fairly ) newcomers meeting you all? I'm in Mid Suffolk.

Hi

I'm in South Suffolk and have just joined. Another suggestion for a meeting place - The Beagle which is by the Copdock roundabout so is easy to get to from the A14.

Hello everyone, I'm in mid Suffolk, so anyone near me ? about 4 miles from Eye, you're all quite a distance.

Thanks for the suggestion Red looks a lovely pub, bit out of my area but I'm happy to go there.

I haven't had a reply from anyone else, so not sure if this will actually happen! 6th June seems to be a good date for everyone.

There is one person who said they just wanted Ipswich/Woodbridge/Felixstowe triangle, so I will pm them and see if they are happy with Bildeston.

Please everyone tell me which venue you want.

Anyone else want to join us for first Suffolk meetup?

Reddevil3 Sun 28-Apr-13 13:36:10

sunflower - have you looked at The Bildeston Crown? Bildeston is 15 miles north (ish) from Ipswich for those of you towards Norfolk?
Just an idea. smile

Well Thursday 6th June seems to be a goer! The people I haven't heard from are Smoluski (who unfortunately seems to have left GN) or maybe she changed her name?

Also NannyG not yet sure if she can make it (really hope so). Some people have mentioned they may bring another person, which would be great.

Has anyone got any suggestions for venue, as I'm struggling?

There's Suffolk Food Hall on edge of Ipswich, I haven't been since they opened the larger restaurant, and the latest reviews on Trip Advisor are saying it's now got quite expensive with small portions. I could always check it out beforehand. Jimmys Farm a bit expensive and could be very noisy.

There's the Black Tiles at Martlesham but that is maybe too far round Ipswich for those coming from Sudbury etc (nearer Woodbridge) I know some in the centre, but not easy driving if you don't know the one way system!

I was trying to find somewhere on south side, but don't know of anywhere good myself. I'll ask friends for ideas, but any suggestions welcomed.

Just another idea for venue.

This place has been well recommended by friends recently. Lovely food, nice atmosphere, reasonable prices, and not too hard to find.

www.suffolkskicentre.co.uk/restaurant.html. Although it is the restaurant attached to the indoor Ski Centre (Suffolk Leisure Park) it is, I'm told, also a good place for "ladies who lunch!" I've checked and they are licenced.

Hi all,
Any weekday lunch is ok for me. What i wouldn't want to get into is weekend meets. Suprising how many grans still work so setting times and days can prove tricky.
If most people are on the Essex side then there is Dedham or Stratford St. Mary, if Ipswich is too far. Jimmy's Farm? lots of places now summer -ha ha- is approaching. I like the food hall, but haven't been to the ski centre.

Hope to see some of you soon. brew

Hello Everyone,
I haven't been on Gransnet for a little while, so just seen the local Gransnet
I live on the Essex Suffolk border, i have a car so would be able to travel
Be lovely to meet up with other Gransnetters.

sunflowersuffolk Fri 05-Apr-13 08:03:23

Hi Farmgal, good to hear from you. There are now 3 of us so far, and I think may be Ipswich would be most equal distance for us all. I agree it would be good to try a lunch, if we can get enough interest. Any particular places you like?

A couple of places I know on edge of Ipswich, so easier to drive to are :- Suffolk Food Hall www.suffolkfoodhall.co.uk/restaurant or www.suffolkskicentre.co.uk/restaurant.html. This isn't just for skiers, not been but heard very good reports. Or do you know a good place, maybe a nice pub?

I'll put a note on the main forum to see if we can get more people, as I'm sure there is at least 1 other person near, in Felixstowe I think. Strange that some areas have so many GNs, but not Suffolk!!

farmgal Thu 04-Apr-13 19:34:25

Hi Suffolk Gransnetters.
It is very difficult to generate much interest in this area. I would be interested in a group in the ipswich, woodbridge, felixstowe triangle but wouldn't want to travel further. Be nice to have a lunch club or some such?

Reddevil3 Thu 04-Apr-13 15:58:04

Will pm you as i have had a problem with anonymity!

Reddevil3 Thu 04-Apr-13 15:57:02

I'm on Suffolk/Essex border.

sunflowersuffolk Sat 23-Mar-13 15:25:32

Hi we seem to be thin on the ground in Suffolk/North Essex/South Norfolk.

I'm in North Suffolk. Would be great to hear from anyone else in the area.
