May Day celebrations in Oxford centre?

I've been fiddling around for ages trying to work out how to get onto this local (Oxford) GN site, and I'm pleased to have finally landed. A local topic I'd be interested to hear views on is the May Day celebration in Oxford. I went a couple of times a few years ago, as I saw it as a 'rite of passage' to do so. The last time I went I got very disheartened with the pools of vomit, and yaa-hooing students chucking themselves off Magdalen bridge. Being an ex-Morris dancer, I love the dancing/singing side of the celebrations but feel the whole day is being spoilt by a few senseless twats Anyone else have any views on it?
