We can't change the past can we?

When I reached 52 my mother decided to tell me that my father was an American airman she'd had a bit of a fling with in 1943. I know this had a profound effect on me although her husband, my so called father was never very nice to me or indeed to my mother. In some ways it was a relief to hear her story.
