June coffee and cake

Now that we have had ten days to digest the afternoon tea in the Nat Gall cafe, it is time to plan the next.

What do you say to Saturday 9th June? Do we want the same venue or a change of scenery? The free wi-fi got no use at all at the Gallery, so we don't need to consider that. How about the Royal Overseas League? It is on Princes St and has windows looking over the gardens to the castle.

According to my calander the 9th of June is a Sunday. I hope that is ther day you mean as I am tied up with the village Gala on Saturday 8th.

Was in Edinburgh yesterday (with DDs for wedding dress fitting) and we had lunch outside in the Grassmarket, surrounded by tourists and in hot sun. Felt quite exotic. sunshine

Oops! I meant Sat 8th (misread date with new glasses) but as that means that you will make it next time, I'll go along with Sunday 8th.

I'll post another comment confessing and changing it to June 8th. Thank you for setting me right.

Any opinions about location?

Elegran Tue 21-May-13 10:54:35

Correction, SUNDAY 9th June, not Saturday. Sorry. New glasses.

baubles Tue 21-May-13 19:42:38

I'm afraid I can't manage that weekend, I'll have my mother staying for a few days.

Perhaps next time.

Elegran Wed 22-May-13 16:36:49

Sorry we won't see you, *Baubles" Could she come with you?

Newleaseoflife Thu 23-May-13 05:26:02

Sundays more difficult for me sorry. Any chance you could make it a different weekend and on a Saturday. Transport easier too smile

Elegran Thu 23-May-13 08:05:48

It sems a difficult day for half of those responding so far. I wonder whether we could all make the next Saturday? (15th June) Sorry to vacillate, but Granny23 couldn't make the May meetup, and Sunday seemed the nearest day, but that is Baubles and Newlease out. It is like those maths problems where a salesman has to drive to ten cities in a day using as little petrol as possible and not going over the same route twice.

Newleaseoflife Fri 24-May-13 12:37:42

The 15 June would suit me just fine Elegran. Full afternoon tea too yum yum. Sorry for being such a nuisance hope more can make it x

Granny23 Fri 24-May-13 12:54:38

15th June would suit me fine too and maybe Baubles could come then too?

Marelli Fri 24-May-13 13:06:35

15th fine for me, too! Where will we go this time? smile

Elegran Fri 24-May-13 16:24:16

There was a suggestion when we parted last time of trying a picnic in the Gardens. Or does the thought of full afternoon tea have more appeal than a healthy snack in the open air?

Elegran Fri 24-May-13 16:25:58

Hi Alison, how does the 15th grab you for another meetup?

Eleanor

Marelli Fri 24-May-13 18:01:35

I know Harvey Nick's is expensive, (though Gally has been and says it's really good value for money), but perhaps we could take a vote? We'd have to see what everyone thinks? The problem with a picnic on a day that's been organised well in advance is that it might end up being awful weather, then we'd be left wondering what to do confused!

baubles Fri 24-May-13 20:15:31

Yay, 15th is fine for me. smile

My mother would be horrified if I were to suggest she come along. She is extremely anti-social by her own admission wink

Newleaseoflife Sat 25-May-13 01:53:56

As a special treat I would love to go to Harvey Nicks, the big city and all that. I'll even save up for a one off if all agree. wink

Gally Sat 25-May-13 05:43:25

I can do the 15th but will have been to Harvey Nicks the day before for a 60th party! May be a bit too much too soon especially when on the 5:2 confused

Elegran Sat 25-May-13 10:50:01

So wherever we go you will be having a water biscuit and a glass of tonic water, gally ? Yeah right!

Newleaseoflife Sat 25-May-13 19:30:01

Gally you can have a tiny wee sandwich off my plate if you like. I've never been to Harvey Nicks please please please. wink

Marelli Sat 25-May-13 21:10:28

Gally, you told me how wonderful Harvey Nick's afternoon tea is wink! Have 3 fast days the following week to make up for it grin?

janeainsworth Mon 27-May-13 14:12:41

I would love to join you all but will be in the States with the DGCs on 15th. Hope to make it another time smile

Newleaseoflife Tue 28-May-13 08:37:12

janeainsworth You lucky thing. Enjoy and love every minute of your time with the DGCs while you are in the states smile perhaps we'll see you next time.

Gally Tue 28-May-13 08:52:19

I may allow myself a glass - or 2 - of Prosecco whilst hiding under the table eating the fallen crumbs or whatever is passed down to me! cupcakewinebrew

janeainsworth Tue 28-May-13 10:15:24

Thank you Newleaseoflife - I will try to make it the next time, especially if it's acceptable to drink Prosecco grin

Elegran Tue 28-May-13 11:07:48

See you next time, Jane Enjoy your trip.
