As the editor of both Gransnet Local Worthing local.gransnet.com/worthing and Gransnet Local Brighton & Hove local.gransnet.com/brighton-hove I have managed to arrange a couple of coffee mornings with a couple of Gransnetters, but I would love to find out how many of us there are down here in Sussex, and, more relevantly, how many of us are interested in a meet-up. We don't seem to have the same concentration of Gransnetters as there are in other parts of the country ... or do we??
I'd like to know where you are, what sort of meet-up you'd be interested in (morning coffee/lunch/afternoon tea/evening meal... something else?) and which town(s) in Sussex you would suggest for a meet-up.
Let's see if we can arrange a pre-Christmas event

* I will post this on both my local forums (and maybe even the editor-less ones!!) and take it upon myself to monitor and copy responses from one to the other, so that whichever one you are posting on, you will have all the other replies available too) ... She says optimistically

NB: Wayfinder is my Local GN username. On the main site I'm NannaAnna

Hello-I have just joined this site today-and would be interested in meeting up for coffee/lunch etc?
There doesn't seem to be much response to this though does there??
I thought there were loads of Gransnetters in Sussex!

I joined today too. What's your area?

Grandma2Two Sat 18-Jun-16 09:32:51

Hello Gooby
Shoreham by Sea...you?

amandajane Sat 18-Jun-16 14:00:12

Hi,I'm in Battle, close to Hastings. There must be a lot of us grandmas around. It would be lovely to arrange to meet up. We have loads of amazing tea shops in Battle ....

amandajane Sat 18-Jun-16 14:01:59

Bluebells Tea Room would be perfect, how can you resist?

gooby Sat 18-Jun-16 20:02:28

Hi I'm in st Leonard's how about meeting up?

amandajane Sun 26-Jun-16 16:18:11

Hi gooby, sorry for the late reply. I was hoping a few more of us could meet up sometime soon! Let's see what happens over the next couple of weeks and if no-one else wants to join us it will be just the two of us!

Gloggs Tue 05-Jul-16 18:01:35

Hi Amandajane and gooby

Count me in for a meet up, assuming we can arrange a mutually convenient time.

amandajane Tue 26-Jul-16 13:45:25

That's 3 of us then! I have a busy week helping my daughter move house but after that we will see about arranging a time and place. Looking forward to it.

Gloggs Sun 31-Jul-16 11:31:19

Good luck with your daughter's move amandajane. Always a bit of a stressful time - my daughter and family should be moving the following week, coincidentally, and I shall be helping out with that too! We'll need that cuppa! The tea shop in Battle that you have mentioned sounds lovely....

amandajane Wed 03-Aug-16 11:56:35

I'm back, the move was fairly stressful, especially as my daughter has a 2 month old baby as well! Anyway they are safely in the house and I've left them to sort out the rest of the mess :-). We need to start coming up with some dates. Unless anyone has another suggestion, we will meet in Bluebells in Battle. If, by chance, a lot more people want to join us I will book a table. If it's just the three of us I will get there early and bag a spot! It sounds a long way off but how about one day in the week commencing 22nd August?

Gloggs Wed 03-Aug-16 16:24:48

It's funny how new babies and new homes seem to go hand in hand....We are planning a week trip to Northumberland sometime this month but we are waiting to see how the weather pans out before booking so it is likely to be last minute. We usually go away around 21st (my birthday) so if w/c 22nd suits others I will have to miss on that occasion unless of course we are around due to 'ify' weather. If 22nd turns out to be tricky for others then, for the record, September is good for me except Monday 5th Sept. I'll watch this space as they say.....!

Hello, I dipped into this site again today and was delighted to find there had been some recent activity. I am well north of you - Crowborough area, but would love to meet up if I can. I work part time and do one day a week childcare. Unfortunately my diary is fairly full for the next couple of months, but I will be watching this space too! I'm quite happy to drive down to the coast.

amandajane Mon 15-Aug-16 10:01:34

Fantastic to hear from you Sheez. Hopefully this meet up will happen soon. smile

Just checking in to see if a proposed meet up is on the cards? I am still up for a meeting in Bluebells Tea Room, Battle, as suggested, if anyone else is interested.

amandajane Mon 05-Sep-16 16:29:21

Hi Gloggs, I'm up for a meeting but I'm not sure how to get anyone else involved. I will mention it on the Gransnet East Sussex Facebook Page and also on Twitter. Let's see what happens.

Anniehen Mon 05-Sep-16 17:06:42

Cake, coffee and chat in Bluebells sounds a great idea ?

Gloggs Tue 06-Sep-16 13:48:43

Hi amandajane. It sounds like at least you, me and Anniehen are keen. Shall we set a firm date and time and open it up to others via your suggested options? I could do Thursday 15th, Monday 19th or Thursday 22nd for starters? Are any of these dates good for anyone else?

amandajane Wed 21-Sep-16 16:24:28

Sorry Gloggs, it looks like October for a meet up. Lets make a firm date as I am away quite a lot. I can make 5th, 6th or 10th if that's any good?

Gloggs Fri 23-Sep-16 18:39:12

Hi amandajane. The only date of those 3 I can do is Thursday 6th October, at any time. Let's go for that, at your suggestion of Bluebell's tea room. Let me know what time suits you? Are you happy to book it? We can amend numbers if others can join us....

amandajane Mon 26-Sep-16 11:08:18

Right, lets go for Bluebells tea room at 11.oo on Thursday 6th October. I don't think we will need to book unless we get a lot more interest but leave that to me. Look forward to meeting you.

Gloggs Mon 26-Sep-16 14:15:41

Great, it is in the diary! I suggest that we both login here that morning by 10am, just in case something has occurred to change the plans. Looking forward to meeting you. {brew}

amandajane Wed 05-Oct-16 13:46:21

Gloggs, I thought I should let you know that tomorrow is looking a bit tight for me! I have someone coming to collect something from the house and they say the earliest they can get here is 10.30 which doesn't leave me much time to get to Bluebells for 11.00 even if they are on time. I am happy to still come along but I could be a bit late and I have to leave by 12.30 at the latest! I don't want you making the effort to get there and then we only have a very short time. I'm not sure that anyone else is coming, no one has said they are. Let me know what you would like to do, we can leave it as it is and hope it works out or we can rearrange. Your call.

Hello! I have just caught up with the local forum and wondered if your meet up at Bluebells went ahead ok? I would love to keep in touch and hope to meet up when possible. After a health sort out I'll be free towards the Springtime!
