Thanks for letting me know but I can't do it I'm afraid. The builder is ripping our house to pieces, starting the day before. I need to be here to referee.

Sounds good, will take a look thanks

Hi. A few minutes from the station is the Bar Convent - on the corner of Blossom St/Nunnery Lane/Micklegate Bar. It has a really nice cafe, reasonably priced. It's the only one I can think of fairly near the station. I've been there a few times for lunch. It has a website if you want to check it out.

I am thinking not too far from the train station...

Good to hear from you YaYaJen. I can do 28 Jan, any time from 10.30 onwards. Centre of York or further out? I'll be using public transport so that might have a bearing on the venue.

Hi Giovane and everyone in or near York, how would Tues 28th Jan suit for a morning coffee at around 11am suit? Venue TBA.

Not sure what progress has been made on a meet up in or near York. I now know which dates I can't manage - I can't do Wednesdays 22 and 29 January, Fridays or Thursday 27 February. There may be other Wednesdays that are not possible but I can't say at the moment. Also DH is awaiting a hospital appointment and I'll be going with him. Is this any help?

Thanks YaYaJen for the help with the site. Not sure at the moment about dates in Jan - will let you know asap. Sometimes there are Granny duties on Thursdays, also now I'm retired I hope to do a couple of daytime classes but don't know yet which days they'll be. Will be in touch.

Hi GiovaneDiSpirito,
if you click "I am on" above the forum threads (on the dark blue background) it will bring up all the threads you have commented on..

If you are in N Yorks it will show only local stuff but if on Gransnet.com forums it will show both .com and local threads.

Hope that helps. Am looking at the end of January for a York coffee meet up. Any dates totally ruled out for anyone?

Hi. I'm in York, would like to meet up sometime now that I'm retired. I posted a message yesterday but cannot find it now so now sure where it is on the site! Still not very good at navigating round Gransnet.

Sorry Jen but much as I would love to come to lunch I don't think I can. DD and her two boys ( 4yrs and 6mths ) arrive on the 22 Dec from Beijing (via Bali - you know, like you do !! ). They are staying until 13th Feb which will be great but a bit full on for 7 weeks.
On Boxing day we set off to a wedding in Ireland. Really looking forward to that journey - M62 and Irish Sea in winter accompanied by 2 jet lagged boys and a jet lagged mum who may well be incapable of sharing the driving. Wish me luck as you wave me bye bye !!

Hi,

At our last lovely lunch time meet up at The Village Inn we decided that it would be good to meet again for a meal mid January so as to have something to look forward to in the post-celebration days of January.

I hope Saturday the 18th January will suit everyone who came last time and perhaps some new faces.

If anyone would like a coffee meet up as a break from all the preparations just let me know and will be more than happy to fit that in too.
