Is anyone interested in meeting up to have a coffee and chat? Somewhere central might be nice as most buses and trains go into the city centre. A day time or evening meet-up would give us the opportunity to chat and put the world right! Some suggestions for meeting venues .... Central Library, Edwardian Tea Rooms in Birmingham Art Gallery, Pavilions shopping centre or in one of the many hotel bars in the centre of Birmingham. What do you think?

Luckylegs9 Sat 18-Jul-15 05:35:16

Think this a great idea. Edwardian tea rooms would do for a start.

Elrel Sat 18-Jul-15 13:31:32

Definitely worth a try! I'm never comfy in the Costa at the library but love the Edwardian Tearoom at BMAG.

Elrel Sat 18-Jul-15 13:40:18

ps Daytime please!

Tegan Sat 25-Jul-15 21:16:24

Weekday would suit me; planning a trip over to Birmingham soon and love the Museum/Art Gallery.

Elrel Sat 25-Jul-15 23:27:24

Weekdays best for me though occasional weekends also possible.

Tegan Sun 26-Jul-15 12:32:52

Elrel; I've sent you a pm [when we arrange meet ups we tend to send personal details...mobile phone numbers etc by pm].

cranberry Mon 03-Aug-15 17:17:55

I am new here, would love to join a daytime meet up in Birmingham.

Tegan Mon 03-Aug-15 17:25:42

I should be in Brum on 18th August cranberry. I've had no reply from Elrel or Luckylegs though sad.

cranberry Tue 04-Aug-15 17:33:32

August 18th would be fine with me if it was in the morning.

cranberry Tue 04-Aug-15 18:32:01

Tegan, would you have far to travel to Birmingham? if so, maybe morning would not be convenient....also love the Museum and Art gallery.

Tegan Tue 04-Aug-15 19:55:20

How about Monday 17th in the [early'ish] afternoon?

Elrel Tue 04-Aug-15 20:30:48

Looking forward to meeting people in Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery on Monday 17th. The Edwardian Tea Room has plenty of space, and tables! I've only ever seen it very busy at lunch times and that varies from day to day.

Tegan Wed 05-Aug-15 13:29:58

I'll keep bumping this thread up in case anyone wants to join us smile.

cranberry Thu 06-Aug-15 06:53:00

Monday 17th is fine with me, looking forward to it!

Nonnie Thu 06-Aug-15 10:01:26

I think I can make 17th and would love to meet you all and meet Tegan again.

Tegan Thu 06-Aug-15 21:04:29

That's great! I need to check out train times but if you lot are more local then you can sort yourselves out timewise and I'll turn up #notpassingthebuckbytheway grin Having just spent the day at Mr Straws house I'm even more determined to get to grips with my Birmingham roots as my grandparents had a shop in Birmingham at one time [obviously not a successful one or we wouldn't have been poor as church mice].

Tegan Fri 07-Aug-15 11:49:11

I'm going to pm my mobile/phone number to Elrel now; the reason being that my computer is playing up and I'm trying to install a new browser and it could all go horribly wrong [I may log off and not be able to get back on confused. If it does I'll be at the tea rooms for 11 or 12 on 17th.

cranberry Tue 11-Aug-15 09:20:36

Sorry to be a pain, this is all new to me, I see that Tegan says 11 or 12 on 17th, so do I aim for 11? if the tea room is busy, how do you recognise each other?

Nonnie Tue 11-Aug-15 10:33:59

cranberry I wondered that too. Please could whomever is mainly organising this let us all know, maybe by a pm?

Tegan Tue 11-Aug-15 12:05:18

Was just going to bump this up. I was worried that my computer was going to stop working [I changed the browser] so I sent Elrel my mobile number and landline just in case [it obviously still works...just]. Because I'm travelling from Derby I'm not so sure about my arrival time, although I'll obviously get there as early as possible, so it might be better if you three arrange a more definate time if you're more Brum based. I'm not sure that I can take my rucksack round the gallery/museum [I'm staying over so will have to bring overnight stuff with me] so will probably be the only person in the tearooms with a rucksack! I'll pm'y'all.

Nonnie Tue 11-Aug-15 15:09:54

Have we agreed a time?

cranberry Wed 12-Aug-15 13:22:44

No.....Shall we say 11.30am at the entrance? does that suit everyone?

Nonnie Wed 12-Aug-15 13:39:24

Fine by me.

Tegan Wed 12-Aug-15 15:45:58

Don't wait for me if I'm not there at 11.30; I'll see you in the tea room. I should be there but haven't got the timetable for the trains yet.
