It would be great to put together a list of things to do around Cardiff this summer with your grandchildren. If you have any ideas you could put them up as a listing or just jot down a few details here and I'll add them and hopefully include them in our July newsletter. Many thanks.

St.Fagans has always been a favourite as has Roth Park. As children we went to the Dingle. Got off the train at Heath Halt if I remember. Is it still there?

I love St Fagans as well and it's free. I think you just pay for parking. I haven't been to Roath park for years but want to go this summer. I'm not sure about the Dingle - it's on the other side of the city from me. smile

After 30+ years back living in the city if my birth the changes before and since have been dramatic. Some good, some not so good and some bad.

Roath Park is looking unloved. The lake area is poor and the mess from the excess of birds more than just unsightly. The islands are out of bounds (they always were but it was part of the enjoyment being able to row around and between them).

Were it not for the Bay and all the developments there then Cardiff would not be an attraction. There is no acceptable approach to traffic problems and the lack of a sensible direct route from north to south is a serious negative.

Then there is the LDP. Oh dear. No thoughts for the additional traffic problems that will create. I hear that the bottleneck of Llandaff is to be "solved" by diverting traffic from the A4119 (Llantrisant Road) through Fairwater! What nonsense.

Hi is there a local forum around Talbot Green area? I am moving to the area end of March and would love to meet other Grans. My first grandchild is due April’s.

The Bay Area is a nice place to go - interesting for children as lots of different levels and also there is Techniquest there.
My DGC always loved going to the Museum in Cathays Park - usually something new to see and the highlight for DGD was going to the Café - but it used to be a bit expensive.
The tourist bus is goos too and you can leap on and off as you wish - I always boarded it outside the Castle.
