Welcome and Introductions

I'll start by introducing myself! I'm the new editor of the Liverpool and Wirral site. I'm hoping this site will become a useful source of information on local amenities and the forums a place to meet and discuss issues with others in your community.

I'm a granny to three children aged 9, 5 and 16 months. You might guess my hobbies are craft related from my username! I love sewing, crochet, patchwork and quilting, felting, papercrafting and I'd love to learn how to spin.

I'm sure there must be lots of us over 50s on the Wirral who just don't know about Gransnet! I've only just stated editing this site so I'm really hoping we'll see more people reading and joining soon. I'll start a chat thread now as this is just for introductions really.

Hi, I live on The Wirral and like Weaver, I have two grandchildren in Manchester.
I belong to a knitting group and we make things such a twiddle muffs for dementia patients, hats with little flaps for premature babies and hats for the homeless.
I also knit items to sell at the Claire House shop where I volunteer.

Nice to meet you! A friend of mine called Ken volunteers at Claire House you might know him? I've heard of dementia twiddle muffs - good idea! I'd love to join a crochet group but only one I know is on Fridays which is when I have my litttle granddaughter so can't go! Any good wool shops where you live? None in Bromborough so I go to Abakhan or buy online.

Hello everyone. No GrannyPatchwork, I'm not really a weaver but I used to be on a website team, so that's partly why I chose that name.

GrannyPatchwork. One of the customers in the charity shop said she goes to a crochet class at the boat museum in Ellesmere Port but I don't know what day it is. I live in Bromborough and go to Birkenhead Market sometimes for wool.

Our knitting group meets every other week at Bromborough library.

Hi GrannyPatch and everyone, I'm new to group. I live on the Wirral. My daughter has just gone back to work, so I have become Nanny Mc Phee, to my 1st grandchild, (Nancy). Just 2 days at present, then going to 3. I love every minute, but never realised how tiring it can be, lol. I would love to chat to like minded grans.

Didn't see your post this morning as Friday is my 'grannying day'! so I was totally at the mercy of a tiny tyrant! You are doing well looking after yours 2 days a week - I only manage one and find that exhausting! We go to Moo Music at mothercare once a week which is really good fun - it's run in different locations on different days so you might find one near you!

Hi ladies I have been a GNer since the very beginning and made so many virtual friends during that time.
I live on The Wirral just near New Brighton Prom we are moving from a first floor apartment into a bungalow within the next 6 weeks.
I have 5 x DGSs aged 26-13yrs and 2 DGDs aged 15 & 18 and a sweet GGD aged 1 yr.I will bring you all up to date in later posts.xx

Good Morning LesleyAnne - Moo is £5 a time - 45 minutes worth. There is a loyalty card to get stamped and every 7th class is free which reduces the overall cost. Some are pay termly but Friday at Mothercare Bromborough is pay as you go which is great. The cafe gives you a discount with your card too if you want refreshments afterwards. If you ever want to try it let me know - I don't usually stay in the cafe as I'm on my own with dgd but would be nice to gave someone to hVe coffee and a chat with after the class !

Just popped in to say hello. I am cheating really as I no longer live in your area but I went to WGS in Bebington and then worked in the Cunard building in Liverpool.
Still love the area and the people and pop back whenever I can.
Have to say the galleries, museums and libraries are second to none and I miss all that. Cheers everyone !

Thanks for popping in! I went to WGS for couple of years 1975 -76! We are very lucky here as we can be in the countryside in 5 minutes, or the coast, or in a city in 20 minutes!

I'm a bit older than you granny patchwork, as I was at WGS from 1956 to 1962.
I see it still sets very high standards - we were lucky to go there.
