Just to let everyone know we had a super meetup in Beccles today - lunch, chats and lots of ideas for making our Suffolk GN community really useful and welcoming.

I loved meeting everyone - thank you for welcoming me so warmly.

It was such a surprise to re-discover some lovely, like-minded ex-colleagues at the meetup! Who could have guessed?!

Looking forward to more meetups - perhaps a trip to the beach in the summer, or a dog walk meetup? We're also looking to catch up in or near Ipswich.

I'll post some suggestions to get things started, but please do go ahead and create your own threads and ideas - and don't hesitate to contact me if I can be useful.

See you soon!

Probably irrelevant, but Beccles was featured on Breakfast TV today - people having an early morning swim in the public pool.
I'd never heard of Beccles, now I know where it is.

I saw that, too! It was still sunny when I got there (but I didn't brave the Beccles Lido).

Beccles is a lovely small town in the north of Suffolk - full of charming GNers!!

I really enjoyed our second Beccles meetup today, meeting the original 4 again, and good to meet two more Gransnetters. We had a good discussion about future trips etc. Looking forward to those.

After our talk, I was going to try and put a link on for a Open Day at Trimley with Suffolk Wildlife Trust. However when I came to do it, it's really a bit of a pain filling all that form in. So I gave up! Here is the link in case anyone is interested.

Also, when I click on Local, I still get Essex coming up! Not sure why it's not Suffolk?.

Hope the Animal Charity Fair goes well Eggybread - Southwold on 28th May.

Hello. I too enjoyed the meetup yesterday and getting acquainted with other Gransnetters. It was a very positive morning in sunshiny Beccles. Lots of good ideas for the future. I'm looking forward to meetups in many other Suffolk towns.

Hi sunshine234 and seacliff, I have entered the Trimley Marsh Day on the events under 'other'. I had a spare few minutes before my Yoga lesson! Have a lovely day!

Oh thank you Lucycake face! I have been tweeting about it - but was too tired to add it to the listings at the end of the day yesterday!

I added Eggybread's event, tho'.

Am about to try a dog walk threat on our Suffolk site - let's see if something comes of it. Wouldn't it be great if people wanted to join us.

It was lovely meeting everyone again on Thursday and we managed to get the big table again to gather around.
Thank you sunshine for putting my May Day animal fair in Southwold event up,be great if anyone is free that day and can come along.
Would love to come along for the dog walks but I'm not able to but hope you all have great walks.

Eggybread, can you let me know who the organisers for the animal fair are. We have friends who have just moved to Suffolk and are very involved with an animal rescue charity. They are looking for fairs etc to become involved with the local scene and would appreciate local contacts. That big table is ideal for us isn't it? Hope we can all meet up again soon.

Hi lonnie
It's my friend who has hired and organised the hall and I'm guessing is a one off event. She's very passionate about animal welfare and compassionate farming. She goes to various events but they're not usually fairs.
If you like I will mention your friend to Rachel and see if she has any ideas.
