Hi I'm a newbie to Gransnet and live near Coventry. I've booked to see Beatles tribute at New Theatre Oxford matinee Sat 25 June, here's my question can anyone suggest somewhere to eat after the show? Im travelling alone hmm to see this and my return train is around 8pm so I'll have a few hours to fill after the show? Google maps has indicated approx 15min walk from theatre to train station so ideally a restaurant somewhere in that area?

There are loads of restaurants on the same street as the cinema. It might be best to look on tripadvisor as they often change hands. You will find one you like I'm sure! Enjoy the show and enjoy Oxford.

Hi Deedi- I live near Oxford and go into the Centre a lot. There's loads of places to eat in The City. Like most food places, it depends of how much you can afford and what food you prefer? There's anything from a Wetherspoons (which I like for a no frills meal) to Very Expensive Restaurants (an insipid little blob on a big plate) and a good splattering of the usual - MacDonalds, Kentucky, etc, etc....
Basically, it depends on what you fancy???roastchickenwine

If The Nosebag is still open on St Michael's Street (off Cornmarket), I'd go there. It's only a minute or two's walk from the theatre.

Yes, the Nosebag is definitely worth a visit.

Deedi, there are loads of places to eat just on that street alone by the theatre, but they do get busy, and some have a no booking policy.Best to google and then phone.

Morning and thanks for msgs and suggestions where to eat in Oxford. I know a lot is common sense but for some reason I lack the confidence to walk into a restaurant but then walk out if I don't like the interior of the place (am I making sense here) I'm guessing here that restaurants are plenty near a theatre. At least no one has suggested a place to avoid. Hadn't thought about checking Tripadvisor blush....

Visit to Oxford Sat 25 to see matinee of Let it Be at New Theatre. Thoroughly enjoyed the show - surprised how I was able to remember the words as we sang along! I posted a few weeks ago asking for suggestion somewhere to eat as I've never visited Oxford before, decided on Jamie Oliver's Italian partly because it was on the same road as the theatre and did I mention the rain?
After the show I had about 4hrs before train back to Coventry. Walked around - found the Ashmolean (hint I'll hope to come along to next Oxford meetup...?) I saw university graduates smartly dressed taking photos of each other - rain certainly didn't stop play for them! Had a coffee and something to eat in Locos a cosy cafe before squelching my way back to the train station..... I will return!

Thanks Anya I live in Buckinghamshire and occasionally visit Oxford via car, bus and foot, so I thought how good it would be to meet up with you all and especially to thank you for the dietary advice. I think I need a bit of a update as a I have partially fallen off the wagon. hmm Hope your foot is improving.

Roses says she will be holding a pink rose for recognition. I will be wearing something purple.
