North Somerset meet up

Having just moved from London to Weston super Mare, I am keen to try to continue with the monthly meet ups I have enjoyed so much with the Redbridge group.
Cannot find anything on here relating to North Somerset. Has there ever been such a group? and if not, or even if there was in the past, are there any other Gransnet members out there who would be interested in trying to set up such a grou?

I have been trying to find groups as well.. I've just joined Gransnet.. I'm in Bridgwater and finding it very hard to make friends.

This area has many U3As. Here in Burnham we have lunch groups & dinner groups, Weston U3A is a lot bigger, and there is a Highbridge and a Bridgwater group too.

I have recently moved to South Somerset - Langport / Somerton & would like to find a meet up group too.

We have joined U3A, & there seems to be a lot going on , but it’s so much harder to make friends as one gets older.

Great idea Franbern, perhaps we could keep in touch? We moved from WSM to the Peak District 2 years ago to spend some time with a close friend and to take on a renovation project. All done with the house, now on market and we can’t wait to get back to our grandchildren!
Would be great to join up with you/a group once we get back.

I’m in Clevedon, have been here 4 years. When I first arrived I joined a Bristol Gransnet group, and we would occasionally meet in Clevedon too, but numbers were poor and it all eventually died a sad death. I’m very involved in our local U3A but would be happy to join a Gransnet group, although my caveat would have to be that I wouldn’t want to travel much further south than Weston

Caphyx - I would be happy to come to Clevedon to get a meet-up going. Perhaps we should leave it now until the New Year, Do you have any good ideas for a suitable place for us to meet. Would need to be somewhere with parking and - preferably - easy for public transport. Usually, these take place around 10.30 / 11.00 through to 12.30/ 1 pm.
Be good to meet you and once things get going, then they can grow.
LilyJ can join us when she moves back to Weston.

Franbern Caphx I am happy to come to Clevedon as I live in North Somerset but really on the outskirts of Bristol. I would be happy to meet up in the New year.

Best place in Clevedon in terms of accessibility for public transport and car parking is the Teatro Lounge adjacent to the Curzon cinema. There is a car park across the road at B&M with 3 hours free parking, or a couple of local, free, council car parks.
I’m lined up for a hip operation in the New Year - rather than wait until after that could we meet in December and at least set the ball rolling? I’m generally free Wednesdays and Fridays, so how about Dec 4th or 6th, meeting at 11? They do good food there too, so if all goes well we can stay on for lunch! Let me know if either of those dates work for you.

Caphx I can do both dates. How many people do you think.

I live near Clevedon and would like to meet up too. I know the Teatro Lounge and Fridays usually are better for me.

I’m going to start a new thread with specific times / dates and we can see from there what numbers are likely to be like.
