What is it with Tony Blair?

After he resigned as Prime Minister, did his formal conversion to RC and published his novel autobiography, we heard very little about him. I assumed he was getting on with sorting out the Middle East and being a highly paid consultant for all the companies he was signed up to as a highly paid consultant. Then, a few weeks ago, little paragraphs of interviews and photographs started appearing scattered throughout the press where he talked about his greater experience and ability to contribute and how he wished to do so. Is there a top EU job in the offing? [cynical emoticon] Gradually he is gaining an increasingly higher public profile again, albeit sometimes as second rate as canvassing for Sir John Prescott seeking election as a Police Commissioner. I think we should be told.

Never trust a politician absent wink always more to than meets the eye!

It's worrying. What's he got in mind?

jeni Sat 17-Nov-12 21:02:41

I dread to think!

glassortwo Sat 17-Nov-12 21:03:19

It will be something that fills up the coffers no doubt!!!!

Ana Sat 17-Nov-12 21:06:22

Oh yes, Mrs B will insist on that!

Surely they can't need any more money - I think it might be power that he covets. He has lost his White House crony and his 'peace keeping' seems to have come to nothing. What an odious pair they are.

I read somewhere that there is an EU job in the offering soon, something like European President thingy ? how he has the nerve is beyond me and John Prescot as Police Commisioner, not long ago he was complaining how much it was costing the country to hold the vote for this post.

I'd support Blair taking a high profile EU job .... Brussels is just down the road from The Hague, for when he stands trial for war crimes smile.

Hope he doesn't put 'middle east peace keeper' on his cv!

BAnanas Sun 18-Nov-12 19:31:20

Megalomaniac!

Ana Sun 18-Nov-12 19:32:06

Yes, he could put that on his CV all right!

Nonu Sun 18-Nov-12 19:44:17

Nonu Sun 18-Nov-12 20:46:18

Say it is not so , Anno

annodomini Sun 18-Nov-12 21:16:19

Just a suspicion, Nonu!

Anno , weak smile ,

Absent Point of order. John Prescott is not a knight, only an appointed peer.
He is styled 'Baron Prescott, of Kingston upon Hull in the County of East Yorkshire', not 'Sir John Prescott'.

Nonu Sun 18-Nov-12 21:50:13

merlotgran Sun 18-Nov-12 22:06:59

There's something of the pantomime about Baron Prescott.

Nonu Sun 18-Nov-12 22:15:40

Merlot. CSL

janeainsworth Sun 18-Nov-12 22:25:51

No Nonu I was glad too when he lost the referendum to have a Northern Assembly.

annodomini Sun 18-Nov-12 22:52:08

jane, he didn't want to win the vote for a Northern Assembly. It was a policy he didn't like and this was his way of showing that it wouldn't be popular.
