Not so much an offence, jess, as a humungous mistake! I don't suppose they did it deliberately!

Just imagining scenes in a televised "Whisky Galore" type drama now grin

Really serious offence from the point of view of those running a sewage works. Relies on the bacteria to do the work. The smell must have been a nice change though.
My first visit to a sewage works, walking towards office, nose awrinkle, man in overalls says "It's not true what they say - you NEVER get used to the smell"
Mind there was another one, in a posh area, that smelt predominantly of harpic "Bloody problem people putting too much of that stuff down their loos! Doesn't help our process" grump grump.
Went to another one and the whole place knee deep in brown foam. "Something wrong with the process" was the glum diagnosis.
Boy will there be something wrong with the process at that whisky sodden works.

Seems they 'disinfected' a sewage works with whisky by mistake. I know it's not funny really, but it is! grin
