Just watched C4 coverage of the meeting the parents have had with the CEO. Very affecting and finally TC seem to appreciate what they needed to do. The parents have been admirable IMO and I hope they find some well deserved peace now

What blew my mind was the fact that TC was awarded millions of pounds in "compensation" - bizarre.

All the parents have behaved with great dignity under what must have been the most heartbreaking, traumatic and long-drawn out circumstances.

It has taken such a long time for this firm to acknowledge its wrongdoings and this has probably only happened because of the bad publicity they have received recently.
Thomas Cook has been known by another nickname by us for years (with an 'r' inserted in its surname) for the way it treated us and other customers with disdain. However shabbily they have treated us and other people we know, it is nothing compared to the appalling way they have treated this family.

I agree Mishap, £3.5m in fact, 10% was given to the family in compensation.
Presumably they intended to pocket the remaining money, although it was mentioned that the insurance company were given some?

Disgusting and as uncompassionate as it's possible to be IMO.

I imagine there will be a huge damage limitation exercise underway on their tarnished reputation now.

I am still wondering how it could take nine years to have an inquest?
