Very interesting! Putting that as percentages is OK, but seeing the hundred people as individuals does bring it home better.

Is this supposed to do something? - I just get a pic of 100 lego people.

Elegran Sun 17-Apr-16 12:19:58

Is there an arrow in the centre to click on to make it run?

Ana Sun 17-Apr-16 12:22:15

No, not on mine there isn't.

Alea Sun 17-Apr-16 12:24:40

There should be -it's a video showing various statistics as actual Lego figures out of 100.

Alea Sun 17-Apr-16 12:25:40

I have just clicked it again and it opened and ran OK

Ana Sun 17-Apr-16 12:26:27

Alea Sun 17-Apr-16 12:29:11

Gracesgran Sun 17-Apr-16 12:32:41

Eye-opening. Thank you, Gracesgran. I couldn't get the OP link to animate.

Alea Sun 17-Apr-16 13:45:01

Well done Gracesgran!

Gracesgran Sun 17-Apr-16 14:11:48

My biggest surprise was how Christians outnumber other religions. I didn't think anything of it - I was just surprised smile That "why didn't I know that" question came to mind.

Jane10 Sun 17-Apr-16 14:11:49

Interesting! Did I pick it up wrong but did it say that one person controls 50% of the money? If so who are they?

janeainsworth Sun 17-Apr-16 14:32:27

Jane10
It said if there were100 people on earth, 1 person would control 50% if the money.
That just means that 1% of all the people on earth control 50% of the money.
So if there are 7 billion people on earth, it means that half the world's wealth is shared between 70 million people.
It would be interesting to know wherevthey all live, and what the distribution of wealth between those 70 million people is.

Tizliz Sun 17-Apr-16 16:04:08

I thought it was interesting that 1 person was starving but 14 didn't have clean water.

whitewave Sun 17-Apr-16 17:06:18

Just sent it to my GS

Jane10 Sun 17-Apr-16 18:48:52

Thanks janea. I was obviously having a 'duh?' Moment. I thought it was 7% of the population who owned 84% of the wealth. We had a theatre company called the 7:84 company. That was a few years ago of course. Clearly the ratios have changed.

janeainsworth Sun 17-Apr-16 19:13:56

Jane It's possible that 1% of the population owning 50% of the wealth is not incompatible with 7% owning 84%.
Any mathematicians out there? smile

morethan2 Sun 17-Apr-16 19:50:00

Thank you smile
