A shining light amongst all the vitriol

I'm really despondent about all the anger that has been stirred up after the US presidential election, and especially after the result. In fact I'm considering temporarily blocking a close relative on FB , even though I agree with her, because she, as Democrat supporter, will keep replying to red-neck trolls and I can't believe how vile their ant-Obama postings are.
But the publishing of an 'open' letter from George and Laura Bush's twin daughters has restored my faith in human nature which can rise above politics. I can't figure out how to post a link on my tablet, sorry... technophobe on that subject... but it's in the DM ( yes I know ..... going to wash me mouth out asap).
It's hard to believe such sweet girls could actually be related to the idiot Bush but I have changed my opinion on the Bush family as a whole, with the exception of G Dubbyaangry. The accompanying photos show them (although 10 years older) showing the Obama girls the tricks, treats and pitfalls of life in the White House goldfish bowl. IMO the Obamas have brought some dignity to the White House which has been sadly lacking for several de ades. The new '1st Family ?? God help us !!

Have not seen the open letterwillsmadnan but my American family have sent me this recent "Goodbye" to the Obamas. I hope I manage to copy it here!

I like the FB post that's along the lines of boycotting viewing Trump's inaugoration on TV so as not to give him the attention he thinks he deserves.
I for one wont be watching.
Rinouchka sadly true IMHO

Lovely sentiments willsmadnan, for the most part the Obama family acted with dignity and forbearance. There has been no scandal attached to them as far as I am aware. It's true to say you don't value what you have until you lose it, think the American people may come to realise this.

Christinefrance The American people didn't vote Obama out, he had come to the end of his 2 terms. They voted against Hilary.

Yes, a president only gets two terms max (unless under exceptional circumstances).

I do get the feeling that people all over the world just seem to want change at any price...

I do agree that the Obamas brought dignity to the White House and role of president. You do not have to agree with all he did (or didn't do) to appreciate the absence of sordid scandal.

Now I have read your post willsmadnan I remember that - the Bush girls showing the Obama girls how to deal with living in the White House.

What a lovely introduction to life in the goldfish bowl - and thanks for the link janea.
