I am reposting this as the best thing I have seen in connection with politics in a LONG TIME.
In case you have missed out on the Great Get Together thread, I am, heart in mouth, reposting in a second place (ooh missus!! grin )

I wouldn't say I'm enraged (why would anyone be?) but I do think it's badly put together and dare I say it, Not Funny?

Sorry.

Chewbacca Wed 14-Jun-17 23:41:53

Love it Maw, soooo funny! grin

Eloethan Wed 14-Jun-17 23:52:08

It's not funny and it's not what Jo Cox stood for. As I understand it, she took politics seriously. Of course, now that the Conservative Party has become a bit of a laughing stock, the Sun wants to portray everybody else in the same way.

Chewbacca Wed 14-Jun-17 23:54:18

Well I liked it! And Joe Cox had an excellent sense of humour and I'm pretty sure she'd have laughed too! grin

Don't really get it to be honest. But then again Im not a fan of Joe Cox.

stillaliveandkicking Thu 15-Jun-17 00:48:53

Couldn't help looking at the link and it's pretty lame on the humour front. In fact I'd go to the lengths of saying its a non thing. Sorry OP.

The killing of Jo Cox was an awful tragedy. Jo was a thoroughly good person where as her killer was a bigoted, evil person who illustrated the very worst elements in our divided society.

The real tragedy is that for all the rhetoric our society is still just as divided. Jo was publicly very pro European, pro humanity and that cost her dear.

The best legacy for Jo would be to genuinely try to heal the divisions. Hard Brexit and FPTP do not help.

Ginny42 Thu 15-Jun-17 05:43:53

One year on and I choose to remember her lovely smile. Her beauty shone from within. Sad loss for her family, her husband and children and friends and for democracy.

Anya Thu 15-Jun-17 06:18:53

Jo Cox stood for everything that was genuine, caring and compassionate and sadly missing in some sections of society. Even those on the opposite side of the political divide acknowledged her humanity, drive and dedication.

whitewave Thu 15-Jun-17 07:12:39

The Sun stands intotal opposition to what Mrs Cox stood for. I have nothing to say about a Murdoch propaganda tool

Rigby46 Thu 15-Jun-17 07:22:52

saak and chewbacca the very very least you could do is have the respect to spell her name correctly. As for the OP I agree with Eleo and ww especially.

Baggs Thu 15-Jun-17 07:22:53

I think it's a lovely tribute. It has taken a team effort to make that. The only political message is exactly what Jo wanted. Thanks, maw.

Anya Thu 15-Jun-17 07:25:44

D'you know whitewave I could almost (almost but not really) forgive the Sun if I thought it published genuinely-held beliefs, but that's not the case.

Murdoch is simply out to line his own pickets by mining into the underlying racism and stupidity of a certain ignorant sector of society. And his readers just lap up his vomit as it's what they want to hear.

Baggs Thu 15-Jun-17 07:26:21

It's taking the piss about all politicians except Jo Cox. Satire is good.

Satire isn't meant to be funny. It's meant to make a point. Which this does.

Anya Thu 15-Jun-17 07:26:59

Pickets? Pockets!

Rigby46 Thu 15-Jun-17 07:28:04

It is no tribute to Jo at all, it's just a rag doing what it always does being hypocritical . It no more supports anything that she stood for than the terrorist who slaughtered her. In fact the Sun contributes on a daily basis to the hatred and division in our society that Jo stood so firmly against.

Rigby46 Thu 15-Jun-17 07:29:04

The Sun and satire in the same sentence?

Baggs Thu 15-Jun-17 07:30:41

If you say so, rigby. If I ever see the Sun, I can see it's a rag just from the front page so I don't know anything else about it cos I don't look further.

I see it as a tribute. Others won't. Differences of opinion exist in everything.

Rigby46 Thu 15-Jun-17 07:30:55

Well not the same sentence but you know what I mean

Rigby46 Thu 15-Jun-17 07:33:17

Well you are wrong Baggs

Baggs Thu 15-Jun-17 07:33:52

People are judging the newspaper, not the little video. Just thought I"d point that out. Come out of condemn mode for a minite. You might learn something, not just with reference to this little skit but lots of stuff. Have a nice day.

Baggs Thu 15-Jun-17 07:35:11

I'm prolly always wrong in your eyes, rig. Wouldn't want to disappoint you! ?
