Brexit: On a scale of 1 to 10, where do you stand?

Given that the result of the EU referendum was hardly a landslide, I can't see that a 'hard Brexit' was ever justified.

Leave: 37.5%
Remain: 34.7%
Neutral/confused/apathetic: 27.8%

On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 as stay as we were and 10 as leave the EU as far behind as possible,
- where did you stand when you voted (if you did) and
- have your thoughts changed since?

10. And yes, my thoughts have changed since. I read an awful lot about the eu and what I read has strengthened my view, if that were possible.

BlueBelle Wed 21-Jun-17 20:43:39

1 ) then and 1 ) now I can see all the huge advantages of being part of EU and I am still praying for a miracle I am incredibly saddened to leave and if I was younger I d move away, my country is lost and in total chaos

MaizieD Wed 21-Jun-17 20:51:00

1) then and 1) now. I feel very much the same as BlueBelle. Nothing I've read since persuades me otherwise.. .

tanith Wed 21-Jun-17 21:23:21

1 then and 1 now I wish we could stay too.

whitewave Wed 21-Jun-17 21:27:42

1 and 1 like everyone I am incredibly sad at what is happening to the UK. The more I read the more alarmed I get at what is going to happen.

GrandmaKT Wed 21-Jun-17 21:32:13

1 and 1 for me. I pride myself on being an optimist, but I sadly echo BlueBelle's post.

daphnedill Wed 21-Jun-17 21:37:43

1 then and 00000000000000000000000000000000000.1 now.

annodomini Wed 21-Jun-17 21:43:48

1 then and now. I remain a 'remainer'.

Yes definitely 1 then &1 now difficult times ahead ?

whitewave Wed 21-Jun-17 21:55:25

Maybe it will be seen just an embarrassing episode a few years down the line

Granny23 Wed 21-Jun-17 22:15:18

1 and 1 - there should have been a 2/3 or at least 60% majority required for such a major change to the status quo.

GrandmaKT Wed 21-Jun-17 23:15:07

Interesting that we are all very polorised on this - all 1s and 10s, and that so far nobody has changed their opinion one degree in the past year.

Cindersdad Wed 21-Jun-17 23:34:51

Definitely 1 stay in the EU. Then Gransnet forum members are generally anti Brexit. However if you to post a similar thread on Buzz50 you'd probably get more 10's than 1's.

As regards Brexit you are inevitably either very much against it (1) or pro (10). I know there are faults in the EU but they can be changed from within. A Hard Brexit is too damaging for the economy, a soft one will cost almost as much full membership with none of the benefits. No viable choice but to stay in, will the government understand that - little chance of sanity prevailing so far!!

1 then and 1 now .

Eloethan Thu 22-Jun-17 00:15:27

I was around a 4 and I would say I'm now around 2.

I had grave reservations about the EU and still do. I was particularly dismayed to see the way that Greece was treated. But I think we should have stayed in, formed alliances with progressive groups, tried to simplify the structure and made the whole organisation more accountable.

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 22-Jun-17 00:27:10

1 then, 1 now and hoping for a vote on the final deal.

stillaliveandkicking Thu 22-Jun-17 01:06:42

A big fat 10!

Mamie Thu 22-Jun-17 06:21:15

1and 1.
It is very clear that the French have looked on the mess that is Brexit (on a vu la merde qui est Brexit) and elected the pro EU President Macron with a thumping majority. The FN who toyed with Frexit have lost massively.

joannapiano Thu 22-Jun-17 06:38:12

10 and 10.

Alima Thu 22-Jun-17 07:22:35

10 and 10. Just how do the faults in the EU get corrected? DC did attempt to get certain changes done before the referendum. Maybe, just maybe, if he had got what he asked for them the remainders would have it. No bending from them is there?

Mamie Thu 22-Jun-17 07:36:01

I get that some people voted a 10 for Brexit last year, but has the current state of affairs not raised any doubts? What would be the red lines? It is clear that the economy will take a huge hit, but what about ports at a standstill if customs union / trading agreements go, aeroplanes grounded if open skies agreement goes, food rationing when imports can't get in?
This is not "project fear" these are realities that some well-informed leavers are talking about. Do people really have faith in this lame duck of a government to get this complex, expensive and demanding negotiation through?

kittylester Thu 22-Jun-17 08:01:11

I was a 1, after the result I got quite excited at the thought of going it alone and became a 6/7! However, I have reverted to stay as we are (ish) so, maybe, 2.

rosesarered Thu 22-Jun-17 08:54:13

10 then....12 now.
