Silly news

Apparently and allegedly, Jon Snow shouted "Fuck the Tories" while dancing at Glastonbury and some people, Tories and prim prudes, presumably, are calling for his resignation as Channel Four News anchor.

How silly!

Why shouldn't he let his hair down with the rest of the bourgeois world at Glastonbury and join in stupid dhants and shout stupid things?

What's all this rot about people not being allowed to be real people, having to be proper and prim all the time, even when not at work and not representing anyone but themselves?

I like Channel Four news best out of all the news programmes.
Haven't we all done something stupid and regretted it later in the cold light of day?
People should give the man a break. He made an error of judgement, but why should he lose his job over it? He appears impartial when presenting the news, so that is fine by me.

He shouldn't have used such language but as you say it does not detract from his ability to do his job. Too much PC and not enough common sense in the establishment.

Recent events from Brexit to the London Fire have shown just how rotten our system is. Both Tories and Labour must share the blame. The worrying thing is that nobody knows how to put things right.

Every time they try to do something they just get themselves deeper into the political swamp.

Baggs Wed 28-Jun-17 07:57:19

Apparently and understandably, Snow doesn't remember a thing about it grin

What kind of person is it who bothers to report that?

Riverwalk Wed 28-Jun-17 08:10:06

The same kind as the one in Yorkshire who phoned 999 to report that the queen wasn't wearing a seatbelt!

NannyMcPhU Wed 28-Jun-17 08:25:44

shock

rosesarered Wed 28-Jun-17 08:31:10

Haha! Waccy Baccy or champagne do you think? grin

Nothing to say you can't do or say something silly if you are a presenter and 'off air'

Smithy Wed 28-Jun-17 08:37:45

I agree Marydoll, ? channel 4 is the best & most in depth of the news programmes. He's entitled to let his hair down why would anyone report him for that. What a strange hypocritical world we live in.

vampirequeen Wed 28-Jun-17 13:19:39

Was he on duty at the time? If he was reporting for Channel 4 then fair enough. If, however, he was in his own time then it's nobody's business and nothing to do with this job.

whitewave Wed 28-Jun-17 13:23:55

Does anyone believe he will be sacked or even reprimanded as a result?

He may have been cold stone sober and still be of that opinion. What a sensible man

norose4 Wed 28-Jun-17 14:18:39

Just playing devils advocat what if he had said F--k the Labour Party, ?Brilliant if he had said F--k um all the left & the right & them all , so cheer up gransnetters f--k m all .

vampirequeen Wed 28-Jun-17 19:21:02

No matter what he said it doesn't matter as long as he wasn't speaking or acting on behalf of Channel 4 at the time.

Iam64 Wed 28-Jun-17 19:35:40

Jon Snow is a good presenter. Channel 4 news is streets ahead of the other news programmes. I'm glad he can't remember saying this and I do hope no silly person videod it, if it happened I hasten to add.
As well as presenting the best news programme he also wears wonderful ties, usually with coordinated socks. What's not to enjoy?
