Pity the photo is so airbrushed but I do think Camilla is an asset to the Royal Family and absolutely the right partner for Charles.

The 'should she, shouldn't she' be Queen or Princess consort argument will keep rumbling on until somebody takes the (brave) step of announcing that as the wife of the future king she will be known as Queen Camilla when the time comes.

IMO William and Harry would do a lot of good by publicly giving it their blessing.

I agree with all you said Merlot.

I've just seen a recent photo of myself and am wondering if the airbrusher could help me.

Anniebach Mon 17-Jul-17 10:15:18

I like Camilla, she knows how to act as a consort not as a queen bee

If Charles decides she is to be given the title queen consort then she will be.

Lona Mon 17-Jul-17 10:22:19

I like her too and I agree with you, especially about the airbrushing! grin
Charles is so happy with her and she does a great job. Such a pity that she's had so much nastiness to contend with along the way.

Alima Mon 17-Jul-17 11:58:40

I like Camilla from what I have read, she sounds a real laugh with a good heart. Airbrushing or not she looks lovely in the photo. I would be happy for her to become Queen Camilla when the time comes.

henetha Mon 17-Jul-17 12:09:54

I too like Camilla. And I like the way Anniebach phrased it... exactly my feelings.
Personally, if she becomes Queen then that's fine.

silverlining48 Mon 17-Jul-17 12:16:28

I am sure camilla makes charles happy but if prince philip is a prince consort and victorias albert was also a prince why does camilla need to be a queen and not a princess consort etc.

Jalima1108 Mon 17-Jul-17 12:18:56

kittylester a photographer airbrushed a photo of me a while ago - it was rather a shock (I didn't ask for it to be done).
No bags, no wrinkles etc etc. I have hidden it away because everyone laughed.

Jalima1108 Mon 17-Jul-17 12:20:03

Of course, had he been allowed to marry her in the first place this debate would not be taking place.

But we cannot change history. I think Princess Consort would be fine, if it was good enough for Philip and Albert I am sure she will be happy with that title.

Anniebach Mon 17-Jul-17 12:20:04

Because we don't have King consorts just prince consorts, the queen mother, queen Mary , queen Alexandra were queen consorts not queens as is queenie

Day6 Mon 17-Jul-17 12:29:15

I agree Jalima. It's a shame Charles had to marry Diana really. I never thought it a love match and it caused them both so much pain.

In many ways a dalliance with the married Camilla, which is what happened anyway, would have been better. I always get the feeling Diana was drafted in as a virginal brood mare and nothing else.

They both look very good in the photograph.

Cherrytree59 Mon 17-Jul-17 13:10:45

I hope C & C share a very happy life together.

But as has already been said
you can't change history.
So Princess - Consort to the king sounds just fine.

Anniebach Mon 17-Jul-17 13:15:40

So a second wife should not take the title of her husband?

devongirl Mon 17-Jul-17 13:24:11

According to Wikipaedia

If Charles, Prince of Wales, ascends the throne, his second wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, will automatically take on the title and style pertaining to the queen consort unless legislation is passed to the contrary. It has been stated, however, that it is intended that she should be styled not as a queen consort, but as "princess consort".

Anniebach Mon 17-Jul-17 13:29:07

They had no choice at the time because of the Diana fans

Jalima1108 Mon 17-Jul-17 13:30:14

In many ways a dalliance with the married Camilla, which is what happened anyway, would have been better.
She wasn't married then, though. They sent him away and she married Andrew PB

So a second wife should not take the title of her husband?
Yes, I suppose if that is what is traditional then that is fine if they want to continue with the tradition - but we are in the days of equality so should the consort of a queen become a king consort or should the consort of a king become a princess consort to make it all fair and equal in this day and age?

devongirl Mon 17-Jul-17 13:43:08

Again from Wikipedia

^Prince George of Denmark, husband of Queen Anne likewise never received the official style of Prince Consort, but was raised to the peerage of England as the Duke of Cumberland in 1689, several years before his wife's accession in 1702.
Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, husband of Queen Victoria, did not take an English peerage title but was granted the title of Prince Consort as a distinct title, in 1857, the only male consort in either the United Kingdom or its predecessor realms to have officially held the title. It was suggested at first that he would in fact become King, but this was decided against by the Government.
Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark, husband of Elizabeth II, already raised to the peerage as Duke of Edinburgh in 1947, was made a Prince of the United Kingdom in 1957. He is not styled as Prince Consort.^

MaizieD Mon 17-Jul-17 13:45:16

'Princess Consort' presumably being from the precedent set for Prince Albert. Much to Victoria's fury the government wouldn't let him have 'King' in his title grin

Not that I'm that bothered. It's a reasonably 'happy ending' to a sad and unsavoury story with which everyone involved seems to be content; to me that's more important than titles.

MaizieD Mon 17-Jul-17 13:46:15

X post with devongirl re Prince Albert

rafichagran Mon 17-Jul-17 14:39:12

I really like Camilla and I would not object to her being Queen Camilla.

Jalima1108 Mon 17-Jul-17 14:52:11

Thanks devongirl, of course!

Kittye Mon 17-Jul-17 15:36:19

Jalima I have a photo taken a few years ago on a cruise, it was "soft focus" no bags or wrinkles. I love it !
My husband keeps saying we should put a more recent photo in the frame, I won't let him as I'll never look that good again ? I think Camilla will make a good queen I think her and Charles are perfect match. Good luck to both of them.

nigglynellie Mon 17-Jul-17 16:29:52

From way back beyond the Conqueror, the wife of the king has always been style Queen whoever, the husbands of our six queens, seven if you count Jane, have never been styled king whoever. Prince Albert is the only Prince Consort amongst them, Prince Phillip apparently refused the title. Camilla, as wife of the king should, and hopefully will, be styled Queen (Camilla) as royal wives have been before her.

Moocow Mon 17-Jul-17 21:13:23

Whatever happened to growing old gracefully? I hardly recognised Prince Charles with all the touching up/soft focus or whatever.

Jalima1108 Mon 17-Jul-17 22:03:34

Moocow surely better to grow old disgracefully?
