Let's not Forget Brexit(2)

It seems that 1000 posts is the limit for a thread, so carrying on I have to commend Day6 for persistence though really cannot understand any of the reasons LEAVER have given.

Let's we get the full disclosure of the Brexit impact statements. I want to try to avoid repitition but we have probably said at one time or other everything to say about Brexit.

The bottom line is that we will be worse off outside the EU. Yes there fault with the EU but outside we can do nothing inside we have a say.

The referendum result was based on lies. The LEAVE campaign finances are not above suspicion.

Another 1000 whinges?

MaizieD Thu 02-Nov-17 09:21:53

Gives you something to do, lemon; reading the whinges.

lemongrove Thu 02-Nov-17 09:59:56

More likely not Maizie ( unless they are interesting whinges.)

whitewave Thu 02-Nov-17 10:03:03

Another silly post lem

Have you tried lemsip?

lemongrove Thu 02-Nov-17 10:05:25

.....and that isn’t a silly ( and unpleasant, since you have already mentioned my health) post ww?
I ask because double standards seem to apply on some threads.

lemongrove Thu 02-Nov-17 10:07:40

cindersdad there is no proof that we will be worse off outside of the EU.
The referendum had lies on both sides, but we had to make up our owm minds.

I'd be interested to know what people expect to find in the UK studies that have not been covered off or analysed in the hundreds of EU studies that are available?
Has anyone here read any of them?

nigglynellie Thu 02-Nov-17 14:27:37

' Have you tried some lemsip'?!! Honestly ww, surely you can do better than that?!!

GracesGranMK2 Thu 02-Nov-17 14:39:28

This is from a report examining the ten-year impact on cities of both 'hard' and 'soft' Brexit.

All British cities are set to be negatively affected as a result of higher trade costs between the UK and EU, and this impact will be greater in the scenario of a ‘hard Brexit’. Economic output in cities (as measured by Gross Value Added, GVA) is predicted to be 1.2 per cent lower on average under a ‘soft Brexit’ and 2.3 per cent lower under a ‘hard Brexit’ than if the UK remained in the EU.

Brexit, trade and the economic impacts on UK Cities

Day6 Thu 02-Nov-17 15:09:50

Here we go again - from the report.

is predicted

Project Fear in overdrive with its PREDICTIONS.

No evidence of anything until it happens and we operate differently.

I am going to predict that we will trade globally with great success. That prediction is just as valid.

petra Thu 02-Nov-17 15:17:11

I am going to predict that we will have a bumpy couple of years and then boom time again. And in that two years the euro is going to fall spectacularly.

Day6 Thu 02-Nov-17 15:19:49

What about lower trade costs with the rest of the world and the shed loads we save in tariffs and restrictions? What about cheaper and increased imports and exports? What about the ten billion plus we won't have to give to Brussels each year?

WHO REALLY KNOWS?

It's all a bit Wizard of Oz-ish. Is there a weird and unstable EU guru hiding in a booth somewhere pulling peoples' strings with his seventy million zillion predictions of our economic demise issued every second of every day?

It's propaganda and Remainers are doing their utmost to get us to suck it all up and regret voting to leave the EU.

It isn't working.

Day6 Thu 02-Nov-17 15:22:53

Petra I think that's the most realistic prediction to date! grin

Have a fiver - or would you prefer five euros?

GracesGranMK2 Thu 02-Nov-17 15:25:23

Having had a government which has had to be dragged, kicking and screaming toward openness it was said on DP, by Matthew Pennycook, Shadow Minister for Exiting the European Union that the Brexit select committee should get, as per the terms of the motion, all the Impact Studies in full. It will then be for them to determine how that information is published in a wider sense. The select committee chairs on each area should have that information.

What a shame that the government could not be open with Parliament in the first place.

GracesGranMK2 Thu 02-Nov-17 15:41:23

Do you have a problem with the word predicted Day6? What is a prediction that this word frightens you so much? A prediction, or forecast, is a statement about an uncertain event. It is often, but not always, based upon experience or knowledge

Primrose offers a prediction based on no relevant knowledge or experience and you choose that.

I offer an academic paper properly produced, one where you can click through to the technical report and, you leap up and down like a small child about the word "predicted".

I know that statistically the leave voters were less educated but that really doesn't mean they have to make comments from a position of complete ignorance.

whitewave Thu 02-Nov-17 16:06:45

I see Gove has been arguing with Fox over chicken. Fox keen to import trashy mani from USA and Brazil - Gove not keen.

I am surprised to say that I agree with Gove

Primrose65 Thu 02-Nov-17 16:45:15

gg I think you're getting me confused with people who offer predictions! I'd also be careful labelling people as 'no relevant knowledge or experience'. I don't think you're the arbiter of the relevance of a person's life experiences or their (unknown to you) academic qualifications.
I'd just be a little more mindful of posts when you complain about 'comments from a position of complete ignorance.'

petra Thu 02-Nov-17 16:49:49

Trashy Mani: is that a colloquial term?

whitewave Thu 02-Nov-17 16:55:04

Oh petra sterling has dropped today 1%- thought you’d like to know!

Welshwife Thu 02-Nov-17 16:55:28

What about the Thai chicken? I have read awful reports about the production of that.

I am finding it difficult to get some fish which has not been reared in China/Taiwan/ Vietnam etc and just finished off and packaged in Europe. I can often get Scottish smoked salmon here and some of it being wild salmon.

GracesGranMK2 Thu 02-Nov-17 17:16:02

Primrose I haven't mentioned you. I think you are reading other people's names as your own or something equally as weird.

GracesGranMK2 Thu 02-Nov-17 17:17:16

Appologies, I see what you mean. EVERYONE for Primrose in my post, please read Petra!

GracesGranMK2 Thu 02-Nov-17 17:22:10

You be a little more mindful Primrose if that is what you would do. I just called it as I saw it - not very 'mindful' at all was it?

lukebarkhuis.com/2017/10/29/2936-uk-politics-interview/

An interview with Robert Peston, showing his letter to his dad. It's the whole of what's wrong with this country at the moment.
I hope lots of Brexiteers read it and start thinking.
