Hope this is not “fake news” but relief from the endless speculation.
Good luck to them! ??

No its real - that should put a stop to his gallop as my mother would have said. Really though they seem like a nice couple. Best wishes to them. wine

Why is this in “menopause” forum? I will hate all the royal wedding buildup, but having said that I’m glad he hasn’t chosen some Sloane ranger clone. I like Megan Markle, I did watch the early series of Suits and liked her character. Got bored with it after a while though.

Just seen it on Sky News so finally it has been confirmed,so another Royal Wedding in 2018 I should imagine. How wonderful for them.Congratulations to them both.

We have no idea what they are really like at all. What I am interested in is how they are going to get round the fact she is divorced in terms of where the wedding will take place.. Escaping from the fawning royalist rubbish now is going to prove a challenge.

I'm really pleased for him. They seem ideally suited.

Charleygirl Mon 27-Nov-17 10:39:52

I am pleased for them - I only hope that she is allowed to run her own life and does not have a photographer at her shoulder every time she goes out. That life can be so claustrophobic if one is not used to it.

Alima Mon 27-Nov-17 10:44:17

Good luck to them, seem to be a lovely couple.

Lindylo Mon 27-Nov-17 10:59:17

pleased he seems to have been allowed to follow his heart.

A royal wedding will be a wonderful distraction for the nation.

J52 Mon 27-Nov-17 11:04:26

I wish them well, like any young couple about to get married.
The divorce situation is interesting, Anne got married in the Church of Scotland, Charles in a registry office, but I can’t help feeling sorry for poor Princess Margaret who was not allowed to marry a divorcee.

BlueBelle Mon 27-Nov-17 11:07:28

Good for them he’s way down the line now so hopefully they ll be able to lead a fairly normal life and just get on with it I think they were born the right way round William seems the serious ‘old for his age’ one and better suited to be king and Harry is more relaxed and the fun younger brother

maryeliza54 Mon 27-Nov-17 11:09:03

How infantilising - I don’t want a pathetic, minor celebrity gush fuelled extravaganza to detract me from the really serious issues facing this country. I’m not that shallow. The existence of unearned status, rank, privilege and wealth embodied by the royal family is one of the reasons there are so many serious issues to be concerned about.

merlotgran Mon 27-Nov-17 11:10:22

It will be interesting to see how she adapts to life as a Royal. She has had a successful career, made her own money and does not lack confidence.

I think she'll be an asset.

maryeliza54 Mon 27-Nov-17 11:10:24

‘A fairly normal life’ confused

maryeliza54 Mon 27-Nov-17 11:11:11

An asset how exactly?

humptydumpty Mon 27-Nov-17 11:12:40

Well they're both involved in humanitarian work, so hopefully their high profile (and her mixed race) will continue to drag the royal family into the 21st century!

merlotgran Mon 27-Nov-17 11:13:27

Oh dear, maryeliza, you are in for a dismal few months what with another Cambridge baby and now the build up to a Royal wedding which will dominate the news and give us something else to think about other than bloody Brexit!

starbird Mon 27-Nov-17 11:14:16

The paparazzi do not make much fuss over the spouses of Prince Charles' siblings, but maybe because she has already made a name for herself, and Prince Harry is very popular, there will be endless pictures of Meghan to show us what she wears, and comparisons to Kate.

Hopefully the novelty will wear off in time, if not, they could go and live sonewhere else.

I wonder if she will continue acting? Can you see her in one of the soaps? Pity there will not be any more Downton Abbey I could see her in that!

ninathenana Mon 27-Nov-17 11:21:14

gringrin Daily Mirror had a whole page feature saying it will be announced tomorrow Duh !

and so the circus begins, they do seem very happy together.

ninathenana Mon 27-Nov-17 11:25:59

starbird there have already been endless comparisons between Meghan and Kate's clothes etc. in the press and on line.
It has been reported that she has given up her career as an actress and will involve herself in various charities including Harry's Invictus Games.

Don’t worry maryeliza I am sure you need not fear being detracted from the bigger issues which are facing this country.
Just leave it to us shallower people to take pleasure in two young people’s happiness and some admiration for Harry for choosing a partner who defies all the stuffy preconceptions of unearned status, rank, privilege and wealth that you so abhor.

annsixty Mon 27-Nov-17 11:45:57

Princess Margaret could have married a divorcee but I think she was more fond of her royal status than she was of him and at that time she would have had to give most of the trappings up.

Juliette Mon 27-Nov-17 11:52:27

MawBroon has written my post for me. Agree with every word.
