Personally, I truly think he should resign or be pushed.

He is putting the whole country at risk.

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 21-Dec-17 10:09:36

He implied that if Damian Green was sacked, he would resign in protest. I'm not holding my breath.

jura2 Thu 21-Dec-17 10:15:14

me neither, hence this new thread

whitewave Thu 21-Dec-17 10:17:38

I simply can’t remember such a poor and useless cabinet. It is getting beyond embarrassing. The EU almost certainly can’t believe their luck as Davis does absolutely no homework that is clear.

Fennel Thu 21-Dec-17 11:22:34

I watched some of Parl. questions yesterday, and he seemed to be sprawled out half asleep, his head resting on the back of the bench, eyes closed.

whitewave Thu 21-Dec-17 11:27:35

He looked drunk I thought, and left early

Damien Green gets fired for lying about legal porn 9 years ago. David Davis lies to Parliament about the Brexit papers he was ordered to produce, and it all gets ignored. Of course he should go. And Liam Fox who runs the Board of Trade and regularly lies about what they are up to.

The fact that the porn may heave been legal - as if we’’ll ever know- is actually irrelevant. He lied

jura2 Thu 21-Dec-17 11:58:25

yes, but by comparison with Davis's lies - which puts our country at real risk - Green's lies are pale into insignificance...

maryeliza54 Thu 21-Dec-17 12:42:37

I don’t think there’s a hierarchy here- just two different types of examples of behaviour. If there were any morality in the Conservative party, then neither would happen. I don’t think deliberate lying which included smearing the police ever pales into this insignificance. Did anoun3 hear Jeremy H this morning on the Today programme. I half expected the Pope to be interviewed about his plans to canonise DG following that. But then JH and the truth have a very passing acquaintance

maryeliza54 Thu 21-Dec-17 12:43:06

anyone

jura2 Thu 21-Dec-17 16:26:25

Agreed to some extent. But DD's lies, incompetence and arrogance, put the negotiations totally at risk- and with it the whole country - be it the economy, and all the great causes that depend on having the necessary funds to implement.

As such, I think it is totally on top of leaderboard of lies.

paddyann Thu 21-Dec-17 20:23:13

apparently ALL politicians lie..or according to Alistai Carmicheal they do.HE made up a story abot Nicola Sturgeon told someone to "leak" it to the newspapers and although caught in his lie because the other person involved was the French ambassador he refused to admit he'd done wrong,He was taken to court and found guilty ....BUT apparently its not uncommon so he walked free and THEN he got the Rowntree Foundation to pay his court costs ..And they wonder why we dont trust unionist politicians

Deedaa Thu 21-Dec-17 22:17:56

Well David Davis knows that our fishing industry is mainly round the coast and we make bricks and tiles and paint. One can only gasp in admiration at the breadth of this man's knowledge. How could anything go wrong?

varian Thu 21-Dec-17 22:50:05

When Nichola Sturgeon told the French diplomat she wanted Cameron to be PM rather than Gordon Brown, it was one time when she was actually being truthful. The person who overheard her and reported it to Alistair Carmicheal may not have got it word for word correct but the gist of it was true, AC believed it and was vindicated by the court.

varian Thu 21-Dec-17 23:04:01

Sorry, I should have said Ed Milliband, not Gordon Brown. The point was that NS wanted Cameron as PM, something she was not admitting to in public.

varian Thu 21-Dec-17 23:09:02

David Davis should have been sacked over the impact assessments , but having now lost three of her cabinet in quick succession, TM will let the others get away with almost anything.

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 21-Dec-17 23:20:35

I nearly fell off the chair when I read the headline about Jeremy Hunt saying DG had to resign because he lied. shock

I don't trust David Davis one inch, but Hunt is at the top of the league of liars in my world. If he's speaking about the NHS, he's lying.

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 21-Dec-17 23:21:46

There surely has to be a reshuffle now and Davis could be replaced before the next stage of the discussion begins.

Tegan2 Thu 21-Dec-17 23:22:23

Made me chuckle....

Tegan2 Thu 21-Dec-17 23:24:42

....

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 21-Dec-17 23:27:23

Where's that from Tegan

Tegan2 Thu 21-Dec-17 23:39:04

The Times [can't do links to papers I'm afraid].

I find myself (almost) feeling sorry for Theresa May. She's surrounded by incompetents who seem either to totally support the unsupportable, or stab so called friends and colleagues in the back.
The rumours about David Davis and excessive drinking are longstanding as suggested by with the comments from Fennel and whitewave about his presentation in Parliament yesterday.
As for Damian Green, I have no sympathy for him. The porn found on his computer 9 years ago was legal the day it was found and illegal within a very short time afterwards. He has lied and lied again about it. The comment in his resignation letter stating he'd been asked to resign is another example of what an arrogant, dishonest individual he is.

I’m astonished and perturbed at the concerted attack on the two policemen being carried out this morning. At its most basic, once DG called Quick a liar, what was a Lewis supposed to do, given that Lewis knew that what Quick had said was true? What moral code says you keep quiet when you know the truth? I don’t actually think either of them will actually be prosecuted - it will keep the whole shabby sleazy issue of the porn in the public eye. But if they were to be, I think Lewis has a very good public interest defence - it’s in the public interest to provide information that proves, yes proves that the DPM was lying. As for the porn, once DG knew about it although of course he never viewed or downloaded it ( he says) what did he do about the matter?
