UKIP, EDL, BNP .... what will happen when Brexit falls apart?

We can mock and laugh, and also feel sorry for some of the people whose comments in TV and newspaper interviews, and rants in streets or public transport- often showing very poor level of education and understanding - but they will be dangerous- and Farage is egging them on?!

MaizieD Mon 15-Jan-18 16:43:12

We have a police force...

But whether it would come to violence on the street or not is hard to say. Pro-Brexit demos haven't been terribly well attended, have they?

And when we asked the question on here some months ago, 'what would you do if Brexit didn't happen?' there wasn't exactly a rush of streetfighting Grans...

whitewave Mon 15-Jan-18 16:45:17

They have threatened war though, which isn’t very pleasant.

jura2 Mon 15-Jan-18 16:55:21

Of course, I didn't mean that we should pander to them- or change our attitude because of it.

But the grans and granpas on here are not the same as the mobs out there. Farage and others are pushing and pulling the strings- and it is of concern.

Maggiemaybe Mon 15-Jan-18 16:55:50

You talk as though rants on public transport and in the street are everyday occurrences. They’re not, and I very much doubt they ever will be. Not in this country, anyway.

MissAdventure Mon 15-Jan-18 16:58:33

How do you know what the grans and grandpas on here are like? They're a section of society, just the same as everyone else.

loopyloo Mon 15-Jan-18 17:04:06

The left wing and Momentum are quite keen to take it to the streets too.

Eloethan Mon 15-Jan-18 18:23:05

I'm left wing and I certainly don't want to see any public disorder or violence - and I object to that remark.

whitewave Mon 15-Jan-18 18:35:02

loopy you have zero evidence to back up that remark.

However if you do have evidence be pleased to see it.

If you have no evidence I shall assume that remark is a load of twat.

jura2 Mon 15-Jan-18 18:46:10

Exactly. Farage is the only one that has been threatening 'war on the streets'.

jura2 Mon 15-Jan-18 18:48:09

Look at how demonstrations so far have gone, and how they have been reported. 1000s and 1000s of remainers peacefully demonstrate, all ages, all walks of life- and the BBC totally ignore them

A few t***s from EDL and BF turn up for anything and they make page 1 and all the News...

Maggiemaybe Mon 15-Jan-18 21:07:40

I’m a bit confused, jura2. You talk about mobs, about how dangerous they are, yet you object to them getting media attention? confused

We’ve had demos and marches, yes - not something I like to see but we’re talking a few hundred people, and no more active I’d guess than in most other free countries. If we’d had 60,000 right wing extremists marching through our capital city, as Poland had a few short weeks ago, I could understand your being so worried.

Bridgeit Mon 15-Jan-18 21:26:56

Of course Farrage is egging them on ,that's what he does best, happily being payed extremely well, whilst sitting back &surveying the ensuing mayhem ( no pun intended! )

lemongrove Mon 15-Jan-18 21:50:49

when Brexit falls apart? Hopefully it will go well!

Deedaa Mon 15-Jan-18 21:56:13

Do you think it's going well so far lemongrove ? (Asking for a friend)

jura2 Mon 15-Jan-18 22:35:16

Maggiemaybe- I do not 'object' to the media attention as such - I expect fair reporting of other groups too.

No mobs so far- just a few idiots popping up here and where. But yes, I am concerned that people like Farage and others- are getting ready to stir trouble - by manipulating those who will be very angry if Brexit does not happen, or in a very soft form. Because many people are angry and dejected- for all sorts of reason- and Brexit has wrongly become the focus for that anger and dejection. It has happened before, here and elsewhere.

lemongrove Mon 15-Jan-18 22:37:48

Yes thanks Deedaa although it hasn’t actually happened yet and won’t until 2019 at the earliest.I have the champagne ready anyway.

jura2 Tue 16-Jan-18 08:16:48

nice to know you will be celebrating the collapse of the economy, 1000s of jobs and the NHS with it- but hey ho.

Smileless2012 Tue 16-Jan-18 09:58:01

With so many predicting gloom and doom and with so many wishing nothing but failure for Brexit, not to mention those calling for a second referendum, to answer the question asked of lemongrove, I say it's going as well as can be expected.

Hopefully you'll have some champagne on ice jura, so when it's all done and dusted, the economy hasn't collapsed and we've still got our NHS, you can celebrate too.

"A few twats from EDL and BF turn up for anything and they make for page 1" Isn't that the point though they are a few Pardon the pun, but the far right here never gains momentum, It's only the new fascists "Momentum" that seem to be doing that, driven along by the deputy leader of the Labour party who encourages them by suggesting they might like to lynch a female Tory MP on the basis that they don't like her policies. When did advocating violence become acceptable from a mainstream political party. The far right in the UK is a busted flush unlike those in parts of Eastern Europe who manage to flout quite openly EU directives on taking in their quota of refugees. on the basis they want to keep their countries white and Christian.
