Her insights were so apt.l really enjoyed her column.Sad to hear she has died.

She was a good role model for our age group - she would have been a great GNer!

I shall miss her Guardian columns too. I was very sad to read today that she had died.

How sad. We loved her columns and really enjoyed her autobiography as well.

She was a gentle but i ncisive writer, how sad for her treasure.

I am truly sad to hear this. It's only a few days since her last column was published. Was it unexpected?

I'm sure that her daughter will take the dogs...

Apparently it was a stroke while she was out walking the dogs.

I remember her writing about looking after her elderly mother. Really amusing.

Oh no! I didn't know until read it here . I have followed her in the Guardian for years, she used to write about her daughter "Treasure" as a troublesome teen, and I love her current weekly column. She wrote so wittily about ageing, was passionate about social injustices, a dog lover and proud socialist. I shall miss her tremendously. Thanks for link MaisieD and so glad to see her beloved dogs are going to a friend in the South of France.

I didn't think I knew who she was, but I clicked on the link, I realised I do know her. She was sweet and funny and seemed much younger than her years. I can't believe she was 75! How very sad, although she'll be glad to have bypassed the old folks home.

We don't have the Guardian but, having just read up on her, I think I've been missing something rather special .
