NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg

" I support the actions taken by the United States, the United Kingdom and France against the Syrian regime’s chemical weapons facilities and capabilities. This will reduce the regime’s ability to further attack the people of Syria with chemical weapons.

NATO has consistently condemned Syria's continued use of chemical weapons as a clear breach of international norms and agreements. The use of chemical weapons is unacceptable, and those responsible must be held accountable.

NATO considers the use of chemical weapons as a threat to international peace and security, and believes that it is essential to protect the Chemical Weapons Convention. This calls for a collective and effective response by the international community."

This afternoon the UN Council meeting has been live on T.V and it has been very interesting viewing.. I think the UN will probably fall in with the NATO , the European Union etc.

The UN would like to join the rest of the international bodies in condemning Syria. It has tried 6 times already, but every time, Russia vetoed it.

This was one of the points that Diana Abbott kept avoiding in her inept interview on the radio earlier this week.

UN council rejects Russia resolution on Syria calling for
condemnation of the "aggression" by the United States and its allies against Syria. Russia, China and Bolivia were the only countries to vote in favour of Russia's resolution.

You may or may not know that if you only have BBC News as it has been pretty poor coverage compared to other stations , in fact it is way behind the other stations to a point I have my doubts as to why.

Thanks POGS as I was in and out if the house today and didn't know that.
Reason has prevailed!

Thank you POGS
We have been very busy and have not managed to see or hear any news in the past couple of days.

I am getting rather tired of reading about conspiracy theories so some truthful news is welcome.

I have seen very little news for about 5 days, as I have been in France.

When there are already 2 threads about Syria and the bombing I don't understand why a third is necessary.

Because I chose to start a thread that gave factual information that I hoped would not get lost in all the misinformation and conspiracy theories of the others.

Ah I see you thought you would have your own thread to promote your own views-well that's a new one. Could get a bit difficult with people posting new threads all the time!

Nice try!
