Who will come crawling out of the woodwork?

It strikes me the present disarray is an ideal opportunity for a person or persons to make a move and further their political ambitions.

I wonder who?

Anniebach Tue 15-Jan-19 20:53:14

It won’t be anyone in the Labour Party unless they want death threats followed by deselection

notentirelyallhere Tue 15-Jan-19 20:57:54

Boris!!

LullyDully Tue 15-Jan-19 21:31:50

Boris seemed quite tidy and a lot slimmer on Channel 4 this evening. Who is he trying to impress, should I be worried?

Charleygirl5 Tue 15-Jan-19 22:22:05

I think that David Milliband may come back to run the country eventually.

Bridgeit Tue 15-Jan-19 22:23:26

Very worryingly Boris !

Charleygirl5 Tue 15-Jan-19 22:24:32

Bridgeit I would consider emigrating.

ayse Tue 15-Jan-19 22:28:15

I can’t afford to emigrate but I too am very concerned about the future. We live in uncertain times with the far right growing across Europe.

GabriellaG54 Tue 15-Jan-19 22:36:43

We will learn to become like chameleons if the far right venture too far.
Blending in whilst retaining your original colours is always a good idea IMO.

Bridgeit Tue 15-Jan-19 22:37:05

Me too Charleygirl5, ?

The concensus on mumsnet earlier seemed to be that having a new lady friend and the vigorous activity that promotes might be helping to burn off the calories...

Boris has a new lover.
Personally, I don't think we would be in this dire mess if he had been given a chance to negotiate; he wouldn't have been insulted in the way they have insulted May; he would have given back as good as he got or better.
David Miliband ran away.

MaizieD Tue 15-Jan-19 22:48:33

^ he wouldn't have been insulted in the way they have insulted May;^

Good Heavens; you really believe that, don't you?

With Boris's track record the biggest insults would have come from him.

MaizieD Tue 15-Jan-19 22:49:55

And WTF has David Milliband got to do with it, eazybee?

Anja Tue 15-Jan-19 22:51:39

How very negative OP ? and rather repugnant.

I’d like to think that a leader just might emerge and take up the challenge.

Lily65 Wed 16-Jan-19 09:22:36

fair point Anja. The phrase " Boris has a new lover" has made me come over all unnecessary.

Grammaretto Wed 16-Jan-19 09:33:39

One does despair rather.
A whole new style of government?
Co-operation rather than conflict?
That's what I'd like to see happen.

We teach our DC & DGC how to give and take, to listen and be kind to eachother but our leaders, so called, are not very skilled at it.

I wish there had never been a referendum but it's too late for regrets.
Nobody is happy.

Lily ??

I would like Nigel Farage to set up a new party to see his Brexit plan through to completion. We have him to thank for forcing Cameron to give us the referendum in 2016, but over 2 years on we are now stuck in this dreadful mess of uncertainty.

He has quite rightly severed any connection to UKIP now it has moved too far to the Right, but I feel he is our best hope for delivering the Brexit that the majority of people in this country voted for and still want.

Ilovecheese Wed 16-Jan-19 13:05:42

I think Esther Mcvey will make a bid for the Conservative leadership.

I am assuming that the opening post was about someone wanting to replace Theresa May as Prime Minister, as we have a Conservative Government at the moment.

Grammaretto Wed 16-Jan-19 13:43:47

Scotland, who voted 2 to 1 to remain, have been totally sidelined in all this jockeying. As has London. Pandering to the wishes of the far right is not even a little bit fair.

GillT57 Wed 16-Jan-19 14:05:22

Jennifereccles your loyalty to the charlatan Farage is touching if a little deluded! I fail to see how a man who is not a member of a political party and couldn't even get elected as an MP in Thanet (very strong Brexit area) despite SEVEN attempts is in anyway capable of or suitable for any public position.

LullyDully Wed 16-Jan-19 15:16:57

I would like to see Jess Philips in charge of Labour, she is the MP for Birmingham Yardley. She calls a spade a shovel. For the Tories it is anyone's guess. I am sorry that IDS missed the chance.

Lily65 Wed 16-Jan-19 17:06:06

Which of Farages' policies do you especially like JE?

varian Wed 16-Jan-19 17:51:34

I would like to see both the Tory and Labour Parties broken up. The two party system created and sustained by our undemocratic FPTP electoral system has not served this country well.

There are a good number of sane Remainers in both parties who I, as a Liberal Democrat, am happy to agree with on many things.

If only Anna Soubry, Chukka Omunna, Sarah Woolaston, Hilary Benn, Ken Clarke, Ben Bradshaw, Phillip Lee, Yvette Cooper, Jo Johnson, David Lammy and so many others would leave the extremists in their old parties and get together with Vince Cable, Caroline Lucas, Ian Blackford and other good folk to steer our country in a better direction, as far away as possible from this brexit nonsense and all the vile hatred, lies and thuggery that has been stirred up by that fraudulent referendum.

I wish I knew how we could make that happen.
