I felt dreadful after reading this - her poor family left unsupported after her death and a charity having to pay for her funeral. They deserved better

Their hurt is understandable they have lost their daughter in a truly horrible way.
Blaming the government is lashing out because they are hurting. The people to blame are the Putin regime and the men who carried out their wishes.
The NHS did all that was possible to save her, and although
The family hated the fact that their daughter was portrayed as homeless and a drug adddict, sadly that was the case.
Which had nothing to do with what happened of course.
I do feel for the family, but blame should be put on the real culprits, the Russians.

Yes but the Government did agree to his being settled in Salisbury and the Russian Government ( or whoever) has form for poisoning their enemies living here. Whilst our Government could not have predicted her death, I do think they might have offered more support to her family and paid for the funeral. She and they are total innocents in all this whilst the target made choices that he must have known put him in some degree of danger. That’s what I feel is so unfair - an ordinary family and woman paying the ultimate price for decisions made by others. Just very sad - I think we owed them something

Should the government pay for the funerals of all murder victims though ?
