I've changed my mind

...about the Duchess of Sussex, however, I do wish that she'd stop clinging to Harry and he'd stop putting his hand over his jacket as if it's going to fly open any second.
I note that Harry looks leaner and no doubt Meghan has stopped his smoking and drinking habits, which can only be a good thing.
I admit to being very sceptical in the beginning but I think she's slowly settling into her role and will bring another kind of freshness into the monarchy.
Having heard Catherine speak recently, I thought her voice was awful. Words tumbling into one another in places and the accent was weird, not pleasant listening.
Meghan has a different tone, is much less stilted in manner and doesn't tumble her words.
They're both assets to the Royal family and should never be compared as they bring different gifts to the table.
Have your views about Meghan and Harry changed since their marriage?

And what's wrong with that EV? confused

Gonegirl Tue 26-Feb-19 09:39:40

AB he's got his wife's - and baby's - well-being to think of now.

I know she and Harry are both worth a bob or two but £99K for the get up she wore to the Ambassador's 'do' in Morocco??

Blimey!

Seems some want a celeb in the royal family and some don’t

RosieLeah. The royal family are treated as celebs by the media but they do not ‘do celeb’, . No one can accuse William and Kate of loving the camera

newnanny Tue 26-Feb-19 11:35:42

I think spending half a million on a baby shower is obscene. Glad Kate did not do that. It makes a mockery of Meghan pretending to understand how others struggle with money. I think Harry needs to learn to tell Meghan no sometimes. This what Megan wants Meghan gets is not healthy all of the time. I think Harry is afraid of disagreeing with Meghan.

sunseeker Tue 26-Feb-19 11:53:58

newnanny I understand the baby shower was paid for by her friends - not her. If your friends decided to throw a party for you would you snub them and say you didn't want it?

I think we should remember she comes from a different country, where things are done differently. She hasn't yet had time to settle into her new status. Give her time

Anniebach Tue 26-Feb-19 11:58:18

The private secretary she had has resigned, and the remake security guard. Seems she wants to things her way and has no wish to ‘settle in’

Jabberwok Tue 26-Feb-19 12:31:19

Sorry, I don't care for her at all. Harry reminds me of the Duke of Windsor (besotted and weak) and she of the Duchess, strong willed and rather vulgar! You could point out to your kind friends that spending vast sums of money on frivolity will not sit well in your new position, so a more modest affair would be more appropriate! I'm sure they'd have understood?!!!
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge however, seem much more like normal royals, down to earth, and, dare I say it, dutiful, which I suppose equals dull, but at least it's safe!!

kittylester Tue 26-Feb-19 13:25:18

I understood that her security detail was paid for by us!

Anniebach Tue 26-Feb-19 14:03:22

Her security is paid by us.

I'm late to catch up with 'Suits' but found myself thinking as I watched Meghan Markle cavorting in bed with Mike that I shouldn't be able to see a Duchess's bottom on national television! I do hope her Majesty hasn't watched that programme!

Grandma70s Tue 26-Feb-19 14:33:23

I’m glad Jabberwok used the description ‘rather vulgar’ before I did. It’s what I’ve thought all along, but didn’t dare say. Meghan just doesn’t fit with the royals. I will never think of her as remotely royal. I find it quite easy to see Catherine as a princess.

Spot on!

Jabberwok Tue 26-Feb-19 15:02:53

And a Queen Grandma70.

jura2 Tue 26-Feb-19 15:03:29

Yes- agreed. It was in really really poor taste to spend that much money on a baby shower- when the country is suffering from all those austerity measures. Nonsense.

eazybee Tue 26-Feb-19 18:16:52

Regret to say I have altered my opinion of her if it is true that one of the dresses she wore in Morocco cost £99,000!
That is the action of a celebrity, not Royalty.

Teetime Wed 27-Feb-19 16:24:20

I agree with the comparisons with the Windsors hence my bad feeling.

Anniebach Wed 27-Feb-19 17:03:02

I remember an interview with Edward and Wallis, there is one on uTube but not the one I remember,

You might. I don't. grin

kittylester Thu 28-Feb-19 06:34:01

Meghan doesn't seem to be embracing Britain. I wouldn't object to her spending her money on expensive clothes if they were British - she is, after all, a British Duchess!

Anniebach Thu 28-Feb-19 10:24:40

Watching Kate and William in Ireland yesterday , a refreshing change from the clinging Sussex couple.

This week they were holding hands whilst she held her clutch bag, her other hand on her bump.

I think Megan loves the world stage . Harry looks like a spare part whilst William and Kate are a couple.

Not sure the words "normal" and "royals" should appear in the same sentence Jabberwok wink
