Detention?

I assumed having an Easter break just meant spending time in their constituencies. (At least, for the ones who take their jobs seriously.) With perhaps a few days proper holiday thrown in.

It would be nice to think so but given the current state of affairs I do wonder what many of them do with their time. I’m just so fed up that for 3 years everything is appearing to be falling apart for so many ordinary folk.

Plus they’ll be having 8 weeks off in the summer and 4 weeks for conferences i.e. half of the next six months......

As well as a massive pay rise! I suppose they are being rewarded for their poor performance, just like many top executives!

Six months extra might sound plenty of time to sort out Brexit, but Easter holidays, six weeks ummer recess, then three weeks party conference season, plus bank holidays will reduce it by nearly half.
Then there will be the distractions of local election campaigns at the beginning of May followed by European elections at the end of May.
Then there is the possibility of a Tory leadership campaign which will confuse the issue of which route to take. A new Tory leader would solve nothing anyway as the problem is the Withdrawal Agreement/deal going through Parliament.
If there is a chance of a People’s Vote that would need several months of planning and legislation.
A general election would need a month or so minimum.
I can see us being in the same position teetering on the edge of No Deal again in October.

The best way we can call a halt to this brexit nonsense is for Remainers to get out in force and support the Liberal Democrats in the EU elections.
