Worth a read.

I agree with you that neither of them is fit to be our next P.M.Grany

But I also think that what Andrew Lansley did with the help of the Liberal Democrats was worse even than the
incompetence of Jeremy Hunt.

Andrew Lansley's bill was preparing the ground for privatisation. Jeremy Hunt was just not very good at the job.

Yes brought in the Health and Social Care Act 2012 agree with you though no top down reorganisation of our NHS was promised.

Hunt is incompetent and his incompetence knows no bounds reading this article he made the NHS unworkable but he always wanted to privatise the NHS and sold off billions of pounds worth of contracts to useless private contractors.

It would appear that most of them in their " other lives " failed miserably :
Amber Rudd.
Rory Stewart.

What, pray, have they all been doing apart from drawing their obscene salary ?

And claiming expenses.

I wonder if many people have read the article from Open Democracy?

Very well laid out explains it all.

Yes it’s a very interesting article grany. Hunt has run down the NHS over the last few years and is to blame for the longer waiting lists for operations, not being able to make an appointment to see you GP, staff shortages.

when you looked past his press releases, you found a very different story – one of missed targets, lengthening waits, crumbling hospitals, missed opportunities, false solutions, funding boosts that vanished under scrutiny, and blaming everyone but himself

He blames the problems of the NHS mainly on an ageing population and bed blockers, when it’s pretty obvious that it is his long term plan to run down the Health Service to create more opportunities for private medicine.

Hunt set out to screw the junior doctors into the ground - how dare he! Who does he think he is to attack some of the most hard-working people in the country, who work all the hours God sends and have huge student debts to pay off?

I read a fascinating book by a junior doctor turned journalist - the machinations of Hunt to present these people in a bad light were quite shocking.

This was the book - I reviewed it for my parish mag.

If you want to read about political manipulation of the media, look no further than my third read: Your Life In My Hands - a Junior Doctor's Story by Rachel Clarke, a former television journalist, now a doctor. She sets out to examine the political realities of the NHS, and, in particular, the conduct of the junior doctors' dispute with the government in 2016. Central to that dispute was the government's election promise of a 7-day NHS. The already beleaguered junior doctors were painted as money-grubbing and unprofessional by the government and media when they went out on strike to try and make the point that 7-day care requires 7-day resources and cannot be achieved by spreading the existing inadequate and exhausted staff more thinly. As the wife of a former junior doctor, I am only too aware of the indescribable stress endured by many NHS staff and the reliance of the service on goodwill and dedication by underpaid and dangerously overworked staff. No wonder they were angry!

The other one to read is This Is Going To Hurt by Adam Kay. He describes very clearly the pressures on junior doctors, both work and financial. To see Hunt going after them when he could never do a fraction of their jobs was obscene.
