So she was paid very handsomely to set up the contract - and now pretends she has nothing to do with it. She is one really nasty piece of horribleness and hypocrisy.

Doesn't surprise me, cannot stand her. Nothing will happen though, nobody bothers and nothing is investigated.

Pritti Patel has anounced that if there is a no-deal brexit, citizens of other EU countries living in the UK would lose their FOM rights on day 1.

Although some countries, like Spain, have assured their British ex-pat residents that they could remain after brexit, that would be contingent on their citizens in the UK having reciprocal rights., so many, including those who were fooled into voting leave in 2016, are now very alarmed at the prospect.

Some people who have been living here since they were babies are now being turned down for settled status without appeal, even when married to Brits and who have British born children. Others who have been working non-stop for 20+ years, all above board, taxes paid, etc. This is appalling- and the stress and worry for those individuals, those with families, and the elderly, is beyond belief.

I am so worried about my elderly French friend- she arrived aged 55, married to a Brit who lived in council bungalow. He retired, they did get some help from social services. She is now widowed and gets part of his pension and support- and is VERY frail, crumbling bones and very disabled. She has not got a clue about Brexit or what needs to be done. She would have nowhere to go back to, far to disabled to move - and not a penny to her name either.

Jura, I know of similar cases and it makes my blood boil. A very dear friend of my in her late 80's has been in the UK for 60 years, always worked and contributed. Now she is worried about the settled status process and how she can complete it since she now longer has a valid passport.

I am sick and tired of the meaningless reassurances from Boris Johnson, Pritti Patel and others that ”if you are an EU national you will automatically have the right to stay; we value you and we are grateful for your contribution etc, etc”. Really? Why does somebody then after 60 years have to apply for the right to stay? It is shameful!

She should not have been allowed to have such a contract in the first place, never mind what her cabinet role might have become.

It is so creepy - all these people on the make. She will have tucked away £5K for doing virtually nothing - and on behalf of getting a contract outside of the UK rather than promoting home-grown companies.

I presume this goes on a lot and the figures involved are high, while people are living on the streets.

Still no Brexiteer on here. Are they beginning to see the light?

This is the worst government that I have ever known in my life. She is just one of many liars that Boris has surrounding himself with.

I can only speak from my own family situation, 1 DIL achieved settled status immediately on line, and best friend also applied on line and accepted.

There are always two sides to every coin, I am not a Priti Patel fan by the way.

This thread is not about Brexit - it is about paid public representatives accepting payment to use their inside knowledge to advise foreign companies as to how they can get UK contracts over and above UK companies.

That is, in my book, immorality of the highest order and they should not be allowed to do this; and if they do, they should be sacked.

If she has done nothing illegal maybe it’s time to look into MPs having second jobs, directorships, consultancies etc.
