I am sorry for my blunt statement but anyone who is thinks that Brexit should go ahead is a bloody idiot. I would love to know what was in the redacted paragraph 15. This needs to be shared so that even those who get their information from the Daily Mail and Express can't ignore it

Whitewavemark2 Wed 11-Sep-19 21:08:43

It is thought that the redacted bit is almost certainly about fuel shortages and the shut down of refineries

Whitewavemark2 Wed 11-Sep-19 21:09:45

I’ll say instead gill

Anyone who thinks no deal should go ahead is a bloody idiot

Whitewavemark2 Wed 11-Sep-19 21:14:38

It is short if so much detail, it is clear that there is a huge amounted that hasn’t been published.

Where is the paragraph about the NHS? Staff shortage, isotope issues, medicines etc.

Dinahmo Wed 11-Sep-19 21:15:29

Grandad1943 I'm sorry but I really don't understand why you think that the referendum result should be upheld. We have learned so much over the last three years about what might happen and the yellowhammer document confirms the Remainers worst fears.

I think that we are letting down the younger generation who were not able to vote in the referendum. At 16 they can enlist in the army and get married and yet they cannot vote.
We should lower the voting age to 16 - if they are old enought to fight then they are old enough to vote.

Dinahmo Wed 11-Sep-19 21:18:06

WWM2 and GillT57 Agree wholeheartedly with you. It won't be long before the snide comments from the Leavers start to appear.

Welshwife Wed 11-Sep-19 21:19:38

Sounds far worse than any other predictions I have seen.
The MPs are supposed to be working for the best for people not necessarily obeying a very questionable vote on one particular day. The very fact that so many politicians of all colours are still spouting the trash ‘of will of the people’ etc should make us all question their intelligence!
As this is an official Govt document it cannot be simply ignored or dismissed but must be taken seriously by everyone - surely we are not just going to be told again it is project fear.

Yellowhammer doc confirms that there would be medical supply shortages in event of no deal because they’re so dependent on Dover crossing. They say the govt cannot stockpile all the medicines that we need.

Dyffryn Wed 11-Sep-19 21:20:36

PROJET FEAR. Oh sooooo correct.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 11-Sep-19 21:21:09

????????????????

The Liberal Democrats tell it like it is. We do not spout nonsense about the will of the people. We tell the truth that brexit would be dreadful for the UK and we already have a great deal as EU members and we must Revoke Article 50 and stop brexit.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 11-Sep-19 21:24:11

It beggars belief that anyone refuses to read, understand and assimilate the details in the document.

Information that is informing this lying governments planning and activity.

Are you saying the government is totally wasting time and billion upon billions of pounds?n

From Rosamund Irwin, the Guardian -

"So lots of people asking what the redacted part is... Here goes:

"15. Facing EU tariffs makes petrol exports to the EU uncompetitive. Industry had plans to mitigate the impact on refinery margins and profitability but UK Government policy to set petrol import tariffs at 0% inadvertently undermines these plans."

I know there's more eye-catching stuff, but someone with an elderly parent with dementia, I cannot get my mind off the risk of widespread failure in social care provision for the elderly and what it means for millions of families. Stop this madness. Enough now

"This is from the Sunday Times’ senior reporter Rosamund Urwin who received the original leaked Operation Yellowhammer papers in August. It suggests little of the document has changed beyond the headline.

When asked whether the version she had received was redacted she replied: “No.” "

"
Rosamund Urwin @RosamundUrwin

What's different about the new Yellowhammer document that the government has just published compared with the one I got hold of last month? The heading.
What did the version I had say? BASE SCENARIO
Now what does the new one say? HMG Reasonable Worst Case Planning Assumptions
3,421
8:12 PM - Sep 11, 2019"

varian Wed 11-Sep-19 21:26:51

Yes* ww* that seems to be what is happening.

2. We have a gov't willing to risk all this damage. They're still in place tonight. They gaslighted anyone who warned all this, traduced the Dr who whistle-blew, made us out to be traitors, exaggerating for dark reasons. ALL THE WHILE HOLDING THIS REPORT. KNOWING IT WAS TRUE.

petra Wed 11-Sep-19 21:46:25

Varian
You ask how can we get this information out to right wing tabloid reader or words to that effect.
The info was on in the Daily Mail a couple of hours ago.

As if all the years of austerity on its own wasn't bad enough for those of us unlucky enough not to be at the top of the heap. As a result of it many vital services are on their knees and running on fumes.

How anyone could think that blundering into this utterly unnecessary mess with their eyes wide open is a good idea is utterly beyond fathoming.

Write to your MP giving your forthright opinion. contact details on this page - www.parliament.uk/mps-lords-and-offices/mps/ but if you can't reach them at the HoC because it is closed, find their home email and contact them there.

Madness indeed. And time and again, warning of exactly what is in their own document, some of us have been accused of 'negativity and hysteria, and project fear' ...

Elegran Wed 11-Sep-19 22:06:21

All of redacted section 15 -

"15. Facing EU tariffs makes petrol exports to the EU uncompetitive. Industry had plans to mitigate the impact on refinery margins and profitability but UK Government policy to set petrol import tariffs at 0% inadvertently undermines these plans."

"This leads to significant financial losses and announcement of two refinery closures (and transition to import terminals) and direct job losses (about 2000)

Resulting strike action at refineries would lead to disruptions to fuel availability for 1-2 weeks in the regions directly supplied by the refineries." (3/3)

from Rosamund Urwin

GillT57 Wed 11-Sep-19 22:23:51

You can hear a pin drop in GN Brexit supporting group. Anyone?
