Is this the government you thought was safe with the economy?

The Insitute for Fiscal studies is currently forecasting a total failure to balance the budget

In view of 10 years of austerity which hasn't paid off how do people feel about being conned?
And how do they feel about the rich getting tax cuts?

newnanny Tue 08-Oct-19 13:20:28

I am happy with government Trisher. Just fed up with useless Remoaner MP's in parliament under false pretence and Project Fear. We need a GE.

lemongrove Tue 08-Oct-19 13:22:01

Same here.??

trisher Tue 08-Oct-19 13:23:07

Nothing to do with Brexit newnanny but a policy which hasn't worked, has subjected over 4 million children to lives of poverty, increased homelessness and in work poverty. Perhaps yu could comment on those instead.

newnanny Tue 08-Oct-19 13:23:53

The alternative is Labour with a 4 day week, paying extra tax for having a garden, hitting btl landlords by making them sell to tenants at well market value, being unable to give children more than £125k in their lifetime, nationalising utilities and Post Office which means making share holders sell at under value and any other crackpot Marxist ideological policies thought up McDonnell.

humptydumpty Tue 08-Oct-19 13:26:56

OK then newnanny, let's stick with CP's 'me,me,me' ethos, everyone will be a lot better for that.

trisher Tue 08-Oct-19 13:29:12

So you don't want to have more leisure for workers, are happy for millionaires to hold empty properties for financial gain, decimating areas of cities, have people made homeless by landlords raising rents to unaffordable levels, have people make profits from supplying clean water, taking money from the tax payer to run railways and then hand the unaffordable routes back newnanny?

newnanny Tue 08-Oct-19 13:31:59

Maybe 4 million parents need to consider whether they can afford to have so many children rather than expecting tax payers to fund them. The parents are condemning them to a life of poverty not the government. Most people limit the amount of children they have to what they can afford but not all. Boris is going to raise the minimum wage to £10.50 by 2024 but can't because useless MP's are going to vote down his budget. Classic case of Labour wanting to put boot into government more than they want to help working people. Most people see through Corbyn and McDonnell hence they are going down in polls. They are now losing their Northern heartlands because they betrayed their electorate who voted for them.

Anja Tue 08-Oct-19 13:39:14

Well newnanny these undeserving poor, who are overbreeding, will get their comeuppance if we leave the EU with no deal.

They are the ones who will suffer most, no those of us who are sitting on a healthy works pension.

trisher Tue 08-Oct-19 13:39:23

Have you actually looked at the IFS report newnanny or are you just relying on the rubbish you were sold when this government was elected?
The Northern heartlands are by the way solidly behind Labour whatever the right wing southern press may allege.
Not taking responsibility for the 4 mill and saying it will all be Ok by 2024 (which will be too late for many of them) is just rubbish.

newnanny Tue 08-Oct-19 13:40:59

Trisher a 4 day week will tank our economy and decimate our public services. If doctors and nurses only work 4 days our waiting lists will get even longer. Who will put fires out when our fire fighters are enjoying their extra day off leisure time? If a millionaire wants to keep one of their properties empty that is entirely their own business and should not affect anyone else. I see you are kicking out at Landlords who are providing a house for rent for a fair price. No one is forcing people to rent if they do not agree with the price. The conservative government is bringing in legislation to stop LL from raising rents more than a fair percentage each year. No doubt Labour will find a way to vote that legislation down too.

lemongrove Tue 08-Oct-19 13:47:07

Oh for heavens sake! Does anyone at all seriously think that comrade Corbyn and friends would do well with the economy? Well, if they do, very soon they can vote for him and soon see for themselves ( in the remote possibility that he got into power) what happens to this country.

Anja Tue 08-Oct-19 13:47:09

trisher a blue curtain is coming down all across the world. Hence the content of posts from those under its influence.

humptydumpty Tue 08-Oct-19 13:47:21

newnanny I beg your pardon? "No one is forcing people to rent if they do not agree with the price"?? I'm not sure what world you're living in. If people don't own a home, and they don't agree with rental prices, are they supposed to choose to live in a cardboard box?

lemongrove Tue 08-Oct-19 13:49:19

Anja...as opposed to a red curtain, and those under it’s influence?hmm

newnanny Tue 08-Oct-19 13:50:45

Anja I did not say people deserved to be poor but it is common sense that if you do not have enough money to bring up more than one or two children then you don't have more. Nursery fees are very expensive and all costs have to be taken into account when making these decision. If your income is finite it is obvious the more children you have the less you can give each child. That is why children are living in poverty. When I was at school there was a girl in my class who had 15 brothers and sisters and she was never allowed to go on school trips, go out to cinema and other such things. The government did not put her in poverty through childhood her parents decision making did. She told us she would only ever have one child as she got no attention at home.

Anja Tue 08-Oct-19 13:53:41

The red curtain of Russia and China has been in existence for decades.

It’s the new lurch to the right, under idiots like Trump and Johnson that we need to beware of. Those of you who support a Conservative agenda, must surely worry the path people like these are treading?

Pantglas2 Tue 08-Oct-19 13:54:45

Of course not humptydumpty - perhaps all those Labour tenants who bought their council houses with huge discounts would like to hand them back for all those in need?

Anja Tue 08-Oct-19 13:56:21

Yes, newnanny that is exactly what you are saying, and repeating in you latest post. You are saying they deserve what they get (poverty) because they had a choice and made the ‘wrong’ one.

newnanny Tue 08-Oct-19 13:56:55

If people don't have a home the government will put them in temporary accommodation or if they find a property to rent they may get help towards rental costs if their income is low. No one is making them sleep in a cardboard box. A lot of people who are homeless are so because of drug addiction issues.

lemongrove Tue 08-Oct-19 13:57:12

We can’t do anything about Trump, up to the American people if they want him or not.
I don’t think that Johnson is particularly right wing in his thinking , although some in the new cabinet are.
I worry about that far less than the thought of a Marxist in number ten.

Anja Tue 08-Oct-19 13:58:28

No one is making them sleep in a cardboard box

I do not believe you just posted that.

lemongrove Tue 08-Oct-19 13:58:35

newnanny your posts are all sensible ones, but not what the LP voters/members on this thread wish to hear.

Anja Tue 08-Oct-19 14:00:21

At least it’s just a ‘thought’ as opposed to the reality that is the state of our schools, hospitals, policing, and other public services that have actually been decimated by this government.

Anja Tue 08-Oct-19 14:02:02

lemongrove do YOU actually believe that people choose to be homeless? Does that thinking define a conservative?
