If you are one of those who want a people's vote, you have to vote Labour. It is the only one still offering it.

It is definitely sensible to vote tactically.

Thing is that this will not be a General Election, it will be Brexit Election which will muddy the waters.

We need something to break the deadlock though and a People's Vote would be likely to create more division especially if Remain won.

Whoever wins can’t really claim one way or the other imo as people will vote for all sorts of reasons.

A confirmatory referendum on the WA would have made so much more sense, but when is there any sense in the politics of the UK?

I still don't understand what good a GE will do.
Unless BJ thinks he'll get a bigger majority than his current one (nil?) so he'll be able to get Parl. to do what he wants.

Well Creasy amendment has been passed which allows the bill to be amended.

That will p...s off Johnson who might well withdraw the election.

Other opinions are available including a belief that worthy and attractive as Labour policies are, if they are all to be applied in the next 10 years, the economy will be in a similar state to Venezuela' s or Argentina's in quick succession and that anyone who really cares about the helpless and needy in society will not willingly send the country on a route that will make their situation worse.

As I said, other opinions are available.

So election in December is NOT done & dusted.
All hinges on votes for EU nationals and 16 to 17 year olds...
If that amendment passes Gov is likely to pull the Bill.
If it doesn't pass then Lab and ALL opposition parties expected to remove support
Upshot Boris loses either way

I am totally against 16-17 year olds being given the vote until politics is taught in all schools, without bias, prejudice or propaganda.

It looks as if Johnson might withdraw the bill.

If he withdraws the Bill what happens next? Does he have a go at resuming the WAB? With adequate time for scrutiny.

As for EU nationals being able to vote in a UK general election why? No other EU country allows this as far as I am aware.

(EU nationals living here are able to vote in local elections)

Why should EU nationals vote in our general elections when Brits living in the rest of the EU can’t vote in their general elections?

As the WAB is more of a “treaty” agreed with the EU surely any amendments made/agreed in Westminster have to be agreed/ratified by the EU?

I agree with those who say a GE is not the answer. Lab & Con are already promising to spend and spend, they will simply try to out bribe each other and some will be fooled as happened last time when Labour promised free uni places. If families believed their children would be £27k better off it it was no wonder they voted Lab. Of course they had to backtrack and the same will happen again if one of them has an outright majority.

I would suggest that there should be a basic test for all ages to assess their understanding of politics before they're allowed anywhere near a polling station.

Why should EU nationals be allowed to vote in local elections but not other elections? If they they live and work here then surely they have an interest in how the country is run.
