What's going on in the rest of the world?

Well, when we visit DD in Australia, there never seems much news about the UK.

Years ago, we were there for three weeks and never heard Tony Blair (thenPM) mentioned once.

It was lovely.

Fennel totally agree, its interesting to flick through a variety of news stations.

Fennel I agree - having spent some time in Australia it was refreshing to hear Brexit put into the context of all the world news, ie a brief mention about four topics in on the main news!
Not that we watched much news although we did have some lively discussions on matters of global importance.

We are in danger of becoming very inward-looking especially if the predominance of Brexit on these threads is anything to go by.

I'm always searching

I don't know what happened there?
I was going to say that I'm always searching newspapers around the world.

Only this morning I read an article in the Mongolia news about The Czech Republic talking trade, health and energy.
Far more interesting than the Bore Olympics going on here.

I'm amazed at how small 'some' ? posters world is that they put so much thought and energy into something that in the big scheme of things mean diddly squat.

Fox News? . No thanks!

CNN is usually good; haven't watched Al Jazeera for some time.

BBC World Service still the best for overall international coverage.

The situation in Hong Kong is very worrying.

It doesn't seem to be generally known that Israel hasn't had a functioning govt. -the Knesset - for some months . Netanyahu can't get enough support from the many other parties to form a coalition.
Their system is proportional representation, which can create a deadlock, a bit like our hung parliament.

I read the New York Times and other papers on line. Do watch AlJazeera and CNN at times.
I suspect once we get this election and B out the way, our news will become less insular again (I hope so)

BBC World Service on the radio for breadth of coverage.
Channel 4 news in the evenings and The Guardian for wide range of issues.
