Article from Matt Chorley of The Times Red Box - "Labour wants to Remain. It just doesn’t want to say so. So its policy is to negotiate a form of Leave that is essentially Remain, with no say on EU rules, and put that against real Remain in a referendum.”

Never a truer word was spoken. So to all of the Labour supporters out there who want to leave the EU, you MUST vote Conservative on this occasion, to ensure Brexit happens. If you vote for Labour, you're voting to Remain. Spread the word.

I don't think Corbyn truly wants to remain. All his dreams of nationalising this and that would go against EU rules on state subsidies.
OTOH he'd like Labour to be in power.
Hence his arse being superglued to the fence, so to speak.

At the very beginning over 3 years ago I remember Corbyn wanting to Remain as I fully expected him to do a U-turn as soon as a GE was mentioned because Brexit would give him a majority.

Corbyn has always been anti, in the lead up to the referendum he refused to take part in any tv debates and even went on holiday

If the Labour Party really wanted to Remain, they should have joined with the Remain Alliance and they should have been prepared to stand down candidates in seats where the Liberal Democrats, Greens, Plaid Cymru or the Womens equality Party stood the best chance of defeating the Brexitories.

Why has that not happened yet?

Because In the end for him, power matters more than his principles as it does for most politicians.

It hasn't happened yet because he's scared shitless of losing all of the traditional Labour voters who want to leave the EU. So, who's the liar now?

varian Wed 13-Nov-19 19:03:53

What about all the Tory voters who want to Remain in the EU?

Pantglas2 Wed 13-Nov-19 19:06:26

Let em vote for the donkey wearing the yellow or red rosette - one donkey is much the same as another.....

At least the Tory voters who want to remain in the EU know what their choices are. Labour are not being honest about their EU stance, and traditional Labour voters who want to leave the EU are being lied to. As I said, who's the liar now?

There will not be any donkeys wearing yellow rosettes.

In order to become a candidate for the Liberal Democrats, a potential candidate has to go through a three stage selection process.

Firstly they must be nationally approved, demonstrating they hold to the principles of the party and would not bring the party into disrepute.

Secondly, they apply to be considered for a constituency and go through an exhaustive shortlisting process.

Finally the shortlisted candidates present their case to all the party members in the constituency with their prospectusses, then at a hustings and the members make their choice.

Tom Harris, Labour MP for Glasgow, has always been a strong campaigner for Leave and has resigned from the the Labour Party to join the Conservatives. He's the 3rd Labour MP to do so. Not got a positive word to say about Corbyn to put it mildly.

I heard him this morning Chewie , he certainly didn’t hold back did he ?
