Will it be Boris Johnson or Jeremy Corbyn, an outright majority or a hung parliament. Will the Lib Dems surprise us all and will the Brexit Party finally get an MP.

Cherrytree59 Mon 02-Dec-19 17:59:42

We probably will have to wait until early hours of Friday 13th.

Ominous or an apt date??

Smileless2012 Mon 02-Dec-19 18:02:18

A very ominous date.

Urmstongran Mon 02-Dec-19 18:43:47

Place your bets!

I predict a Boris win - a majority.

Calendargirl Mon 02-Dec-19 18:46:48

Let’s hope so Urmstongran

Urmstongran Mon 02-Dec-19 19:03:17

?

Curlywhirly Mon 02-Dec-19 19:06:13

I think the Conservates will just scrape through, with a small majority - lets hope I am wrong!

Curlywhirly Mon 02-Dec-19 19:08:48

Oh, sorry, that sounds like I hope I am wrong with regards to the small majority - what I meant was, I hope I am wrong that the Conservatives will win!

Smileless2012 Mon 02-Dec-19 19:59:06

I hope so too Urmstongran, a working majority.

People in this country don't realise they have a bad deal, expensive rail fares, expensive broadband, expensive energy, expensive everything.

People think they have to keep the hand they have been dealt.

It doesn't have to be that way.

Firecracker123 Tue 03-Dec-19 08:51:41

Yes we will find out who is the new Prime Minister on Friday the 13th, an omen perhaps! I'll be glad when it's all over I can't stand the suspense any longer.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 03-Dec-19 09:01:10

13 is a lucky omen in our family, especially Friday 13thtchsmile

Firecracker123 Tue 03-Dec-19 09:03:25

Yes and my family as well, my daughter was 13 on Friday the 13th so always regard it as a lucky day. Fingers crossed ? for Boris.

Hetty58 Tue 03-Dec-19 09:06:57

People don't like change, so often stick to 'the devil you know'.
He keeps harping on about 'Get Brexit done' because he has no 'Look at what we've done for you so far' good news stories whatsoever!

GrannyGravy13 Tue 03-Dec-19 09:13:34

I have no “good recollections” of Labour Governments - Blair sent our son to fight an illegal war, Brown sold off the UKs gold reserve at bargain basement prices. Further back in my teens strikes, power cuts, rubbish piled high in the streets!

Labour/Corbyn are throwing millions of pounds around in their “faux promises” , reeks of desperation!

Pantglas2 Tue 03-Dec-19 09:40:31

I also remember the 70s Labour debacles and although I would personally benefit from the Waspi promise can’t help thinking it will turn into an aspiration if Corbyn gets in. This man for all seasons joke is wearing a bit thin now! Is there no end to what he’ll promise?

Firecracker123 Tue 03-Dec-19 09:49:22

Trouble is some gullible voters fall for Corbyn's faux promises, Corbyn and Labour will promise the world just to get a few more votes but they know Corbyn will never be PM and they won't have to deliver on any of them.

jo1book Tue 03-Dec-19 09:55:24

I watched a Channel 4 focus group session from Northfield, Birmingham last night. Ten traditional Labour voters (parents, grandparents voted Labour) ALL said they were voting Tory.
Interestingly, none were really interested in manifesto promises - the big issue was the unsuitabilility of Corbyn for PM and liking Johnson as a lovable rogue!

Urmstongran Tue 03-Dec-19 10:32:14

I still remember reading in 2015 that Corbyn (who was presenting himself as the voice of reason) told Ken Livingstone that ‘JMcD will do the scary stuff’.

That old Marxist, who loves the little Red Book and who is proud of the fact that he can play the first few bars of some Communist song on his trombone, won’t rest until he’s smashed our political landscape with his zealotry!

Labour isn’t what it was under Wilson. Momentum have infiltrated the Party. They plan huge disruption by stealth. To be honest they scare me.

I think it will be a hung parliament again. This election was the Labour Party’s to win but they have completely failed to win my vote and I speak as somebody who has voted Labour for most of my adult life. The continual insistence that the NHS will be privatised and we will have to pay three figure sums for operations is untrue and a disgraceful attempt to scaremonger and deflect from the issues of Anti-Semitism, and the headless chicken handling of a policy on Brexit. Jeremy Corbyn comes across as a tetchy old man in every interview. All the Labour politicians who have some credibility have disappeared, where are Yvette Cooper and Keir Starmer? Instead we have the likes of the garrulous Andy MacDonald and Barry Gardiner spouting the same old mantra in every interview they do. Rebecca Long-Bailey and Angela Rayner never answer questions but also repeat the same mantra as MacDonald and Gardiner. Thankfully they have sidelined Diane Abbott during this election. The Labour Party my parents encouraged me to support was a party for the working person and bears no resemblance to the ‘champagne socialist’ party of today.

I am under no illusions about what the Conservative party wish to achieve and for me the Liberal Democrats have no credibility whatsoever so since we only have the three parties I have mentioned to choose from I will not be voting this time.
If we had a Green Party candidate I would vote for them.
