There's a little video of this I will put on at the end but here goes:

22.00 Voting ends. Broadcasters release exit poll results

23.00 First results likely. Sunderland and Newcastle on Tyne battle to finish tallying first.

1.00 Most early seats have safe majorities. The first sign of any swings could show now.

2.00 More than 75 results due. If Tories are getting their way, Labours "Red Wall" could break.

3.00 Peak flow of results. Expect 6 declarations a minute. About 50% of results by 3.30 a.m.

4.00 Clear winner - unless it's really close.

6.00 About 20 seats left to report - barring recounts. If a clear result expect a victory speech soon. Last results about 10 a.m.

and then. New Prime Minister forms Cabinet. If hung parliament; focus turns to possible coalitions.

Same thing in a video here

Tonight|? - I will, I hope, be fast asleep.

Luckygirl you beat me to it. I have a dental appointment tomorrow - that is more important to me.

Yup me too. Large glass of wine. Shut out the cold weather and hopefully sleep.

Record the whole thing, have a good night's sleep and watch it at breakfast time. That way you can follow the results as they happen but fast-forward the boring bits.

Thanks GG; I'll be up all night. Worried about DD who will be at the count all night and will have to drive there and back in dark, wintry conditions [one reason why elections shouldn't be held in winter]. Won't relax till she's home safe.

Driving over to UK in 2 days, wouldn't do unless we had a Subaru 4x4 with snow tyres- for sure.
