Time to stop talking about the Bong?

OK, you weren't telling anyone what to do, just asking whether it was time to change the subject. I wasn't accusing you of doing so either. Nor was I telling you to start new threads, just suggesting that it is better to provide a different subject than to object to how long people have been talking about a current one. All opinions.

So why be so defensive when you weren't being attacked, while your post is asking other posters to be nice? Perhaps our exchange could show you how people can move into what appears an argument without either of them intending it to be aggressive ?

I'm off to bed

How about 10 "B"s? Then there would be 10 bongs, which should keep the Brexiters happy.

Dinahmo Wed 15-Jan-20 19:52:21

Elegran Of course I'm hinting that it's time to stop but that's just my opinion. Since when is having an opinion regarded as telling people what to do? You could all discuss whether it's time to stop talking abut the bong if you prefer. There'll be plenty more things going wrong to talk about in a couple of days. Maybe I'll see some of you then.Too busy with tax returns at the moment.

Signing off.

GagaJo Wed 15-Jan-20 19:03:39

Hahaha, I thought this was a post about the old wacky backy and the alternative method of indulging.

Dinahmo The title of your thread IS "Time to stop talking about the Bong? " which is . . ummm . . hinting that you do think it is time to stop!

Yes, you have asked on this thread for comments on your suggestions, but by starting a new thread for each, (perhaps not all at the same time ) you wouldn't hide them under this title, but present them as alternatives to the B's you mention.

Dinahmo Wed 15-Jan-20 18:35:22

Elegran As I said above I haven't told anyone to stop posting, nor have I told them what they should be talking about. And I did ask for comments on my suggestions- also the implication being that some of you may have other topics in mind - as has been demonstrated by Callistemon and Oopsminty. (I have read theirs)

Bonging mad ;)

Callistemon Wed 15-Jan-20 15:58:01

I found the Bong thread, Gagajo
I'd missed it, thank you for the tip.

I'll look out for your new threads.
HS2 will be cancelled.

In the meantime it is estimated that one billion animals have died in the Australian Bush fires.

Elegran Wed 15-Jan-20 15:43:28

I think the thing is, if other people are talking on other threads about this ot that, then even if you don't like their tone, you can't step in and stop them, or say they should be talking about some other, more important topic. All you can do is to start a new conversation about what you want to discuss, and hope that others will join you. You stand a good chance of success if your starting post is interesting enough to catch their attention, and if you return with more facts or details to keep the discussion going..

Callistemon Wed 15-Jan-20 15:28:37

I must have missed the other thread

I was annoyed because the HP sauce I bought the other day doesn't have scaffolding round Big Ben, sorry, B.B.

Dinahmo Wed 15-Jan-20 14:55:10

Boris' Big Ben Bong Bullshit.

Ginny I haven't told anybody to do anything - merely suggested. Doesn't mean the same.

I've got bored with reading the same things on the other thread. I should have added another B shouldn't i. Made it 6.

Cherrytree59 Wed 15-Jan-20 14:18:41

Bong confused

Big Ben goes bong ?

Brexit?

Bong contest? that's usual May dont think anyones talking
about it yet probably Nil points anyway

Bloody...to preface the above?

Agree with Elegran new threads? smile
Or at least tell us what Bs stand forsmile

Elegran Wed 15-Jan-20 14:08:55

Yu could start a new thread on each of your points. That would give four new subjects to comment on, which could take attention away from the Bs (whatever they are) Or you could just ignore the posts you don't want to read?

ginny Wed 15-Jan-20 13:44:30

Why in particular do you want to slow the comments down? Nobody has to read or comment on the thread if they don’t want to.
I wonder why some people feel the need to tell others what they should be thinking about.

1. I am desperately unhappy at the thought of wildlife losing their homes

2. Waiting times in A&E are an unfortunate part of life. Many years ago, Tony Blair had a great idea. No more than 4 hours to be spent waiting in A&E. All well and good. However what wasn't mentioned was when the 4 hours were up, patients were basically moved to a different area. Where they carried on waiting. I know this . I was there .

3. Flybe. Good question. Discussion on Jeremy Vine about this. Apparently it's something to do with the EU. They gave them a few million to get the airport working to have a workable airport. But it hasn't been massively successful. Rail services are never going to be much good in Cornwall. Or so I was told my a panelist on the show,

4 Details of the 75000 crimes not being shared with the EU. This in my mind is wrong . Due to the safety of those in other countries when these criminals start to travel. Hopefully this will soon be addressed

Callistemon Wed 15-Jan-20 12:22:16

^B.B.B.B.Bs? confused

I have said on a couple of threads that meanwhile another 20,000 Syrians are being driven from their homes, wildfires rage across Australia, children starve in Yemen etc

Dinahmo Wed 15-Jan-20 12:14:08

Several serious items in the news today - a few are listed below

1. Survey says that several wildlife sites will be destroyed by HS2

2. Matt Hancock is suggesting the targets for waiting times at A & E should be scrapped

3. Should Flybe be saved? Mainly internal flights, used by business people. Perhaps more money ought to go into improving road and rail services

4. Leaked report says that details of criminal convictions of 75,000 foreign criminals were not passed on to their EU home countries.

The above are just a few of the things that are wrong with the UK. What do you all think? Perhaps it will slow down the comments on B.B.B.B.Bs
