Hetty some of us read it because is a comic,with some very good special sections (medical and financial).
You should also always read a paper whose views you disagree with as well as one you feel comfortable with.
The advantage of a newspaper over online sources, useful though they are, is that a newspaper provides you with umpteen pages of news on everything, subjects that interest you and those that don't, but I always end up running my eye over every page and picking up items on interesting things I would otherwise never have known I had in interest in plus at times reading articles on subjects that usually bore me - sport.
With online sources one tends to choose sources of the right political persuasion, and only those items that really interest you. It is usually very blinkered reading.
Now, we read two papers, one to our taste and one we can shout at. It is very cathartic
