Mother Earth strikes back!!!

I have thought along those lines, too, trisher.

It's a sobering thought!

Not exactly celebrating, but the lessening of pollution should be widely publicised, as it should also be if the improvement happens again but over the US should they be when they are as badly affected. It is just possible that it might send it through some thick denying skulls that there is a connection between human activity and global damage.

That's amazing. If only it could continue, but it would come at such huge cost, no work and no industry means starvation for millions. There's always a price to pay.
If only the Chinese would work as hard creating and building environmentally friendly industry as they did building that hospital.

Not so much Mother Earth but human activity again.
But yes, every cloud has a silver lining.

Now to tackle the plastic.

We have all become dependent on international travel in a way that is contributing to the planet's problems. We are perfectly capable of being self-sufficient in food, but we choose to import. We could really manage without hurtling around the planet spreading pollution and viruses unnecessarily.

But this has now become the norm and it is a difficult task to step back. It would be a massive about-turn to change habits and systems that have built up over the last century.

However, as I've recently been trying to cut back on buying plastic products etc and use more environmentally friendly cleaners etc I keep seeing all the people wearing protective clothing spraying everything with chemicals and I could cry. I just hope that this results in the Chinese no longer killing endangered animals for their useless medicine. I know they've put a ban on it but my fear is it will just go undercover and the animal parts will be worth even more. I also keep thinking about all the people whose homes have been flooded and now they have this to contend with. I do hope lessons will be learned but I'm not holding my breath.

Is the planet striking back? Maybe. Should we celebrate? Only if you're so hard hearted as to celebrate the death of over four thousand people, and that's just the beginning.

But are there lessons to be learned how quickly pollution will clear? Yes definitely!

I had to get a tram at 17.15pm yesterday afternoon, I was dreading it as they are always really busy at that time.
Nope only half full, a lot more pedestrians but also a lot of driver only cars.
I am envisaging more pollution here not less.

The thought has crossed my mind, too. Nature fighting back. The coronavirus started in China, one of the world's most polluted countries and is due, if what I've been told is true, to China's disgusting abuse of wildlife. So now we have a type of cleansing going on.

Will we learn anything from this when it's "under control"? I doubt it. We'll just go back to our usual practices. And then Nature may well come back with something even more destructive. And so it goes on.

All the worlds ills can t be lumped together, and Corona virus isn't 'payback'

I’ve also wondered if this is the planet rebalancing itself. We’re certainly being taught a lesson. Whether we’ll learn that lesson is another matter.

Yes the animal kingdom wreaking revenge also. Apart from the indescribable cruelty to animals that takes place in China and the far east, there is also the near extinction of the rhino and elephant, not to mention the Tiger, all for their market. In China ivory ornaments are considered a sign of wealth and prestige. Rhino horn for medicinal and aphrodisiac properties. Tigers (bone but not sure). It all has to stop and, as a species, we have to stop raping the planet and destroying everything else on it or we will face worse than this.

If anything it could be argued that concentrating so heavily on global warming has obscured the need to co centrate on the rise of viruses .
This meant that less money and/or interest into researching effective vaccines and tracking technology to combat virus infections.
It's not that pollution etc. Isnt important, just when the true picture is skewed by celebrity endorsement, no one wins.

What a truly horrible thought
