To "Deal with personal matters at home"

This man is a dangerous fool .Maybe somebody can tell me WHY he's PM whe he neither wants or accepts the responsibility of the job !

FarNorth Sun 19-Apr-20 00:38:12

Do you have a link for that?

Hetty58 Sun 19-Apr-20 03:34:00

paddyanne WHY he's PM? - I haven't a clue, really. I can only conclude that an awful lot of idiots voted for him. They probably still think he's wonderful, too!

He's PM because the only other choice was Jeremy Corbyn. I didn't vote tory by the way.

Grany Sun 19-Apr-20 06:19:18

I voted Jeremy Corbyn a decent leader and for first time became a member of Labour because of J Corbyn as did thousands of others.

Labour would properly funded the NHS give nurses Drs pay rise provide PPE and equipment

When the British working class stop reading right wing news we will see progressive change.

UK will be worse off with corona virus because this Tory government was too slow to do anything

Galaxy Sun 19-Apr-20 06:52:18

Sorry the working class dont live up to your standards.

He has been seriously ill, FHS.

Mamardoit Sun 19-Apr-20 07:41:53

Grany Not enough agreed with you. Corbyn was worse than useless during the Brexit debate. He sat on the fence because he has always been anti EU.

They can promise to do anything for the NHS but they are not in power so it means nothing. They can't grow a magic PPE tree either. There is a world shortage of the stuff.

Labour were responsible for the Private Finance Initiative.

How the hell do you know who reads what?

I really hope Kier Starmer can save Labour I really do. But it hasn't started well IMO. Naz Shah (Bradford MP) is shadow minister for Community Cohesion. How could he have thought that was a good idea? Another London based leader who hasn't got a bloody clue.

M0nica Sun 19-Apr-20 07:45:49

Fr every one who voted Labour because of Corbyn, thousands of core voters, voted for 'anyone but Corbyn' and found even Boris Johnson more palatable - and that is saying something.

Calendargirl Sun 19-Apr-20 07:49:41

Doesn’t take long for the knives to be out. Only a few days ago everyone seemed to be so relieved when he came out of intensive care, then allowed home to recuperate.

An item on the News the other night showed a nurse/health care worker who a fortnight before had been in tears, on oxygen, struggling to breathe and speak, hospitalised with CV, but wanting to make others realise they had to stay at home. Thankfully, she recovered and had been home for nearly a week, but said it was the first day she had felt anything like ‘normal’.

So if Boris needs time to get well and ready to lead the country through this dreadful crisis, I think he should be entitled to that.

GagaJo Sun 19-Apr-20 07:54:24

Granny, I agree with you.

Daisymae Sun 19-Apr-20 07:59:33

It starts to explain the extraordinary slow response from the government. Nobody does anything without his say so and he wasn't interested. He was also not seen in public for 10 days in February. Now we are set on this site course with so many opportunities lost and people paying with their lives.

NannyJan53 Sun 19-Apr-20 08:07:33

From the Independent

The report follows years of claims Mr Johnson is more comfortable in the public eye than he is with matters of policy – with suggestions going back as far as his time as mayor of London that his leadership style tends to see him delegate sooner than dig through detail.

I realised this a when I saw a Documentary following Boris as Foreign Secretary. He was sitting on the plane dozing, (as they were off to a meeting) and his staff were doing all the work, and telling him what he should and should not do or say.

I am glad he is now recovering as I would not wish this Virus on anyone. I just do not think he is the best man to be our PM.

Cindersdad Sun 19-Apr-20 08:07:49

The current scenario COVID-19 aside is the culmination of a lack of sound political leadership over the last 20 years or so. The last Tory leader of any substance was John Major, for labour Tony Blair. If you look at the Liberal Democrats Nick Clegg was in hindsight genuine but he trusted David Cameron to act with integrity, Vince Cable had leadership qualities but his age went against him. So how does the country get out of the current mess.

The Conservative Party needs to look to people like Rory Stewart, Anna Soubery, Dominic Grieve, Jeremy Hunt and David Gaulke, to several of whom they denied the whip. Boris Johnson is the worst possible option they could have chosen as leader even more since he effectively delegated much of his trole to Dominic Cummings.

The Labour Party appears to have seen the errors of their ways but too late. Kier Starmer is promising but untried.

The Liberal Democrats need to regroup probably under Ed Davey but they are doomed unless the electoral system changes.

As for Nigel Farage and Donald Trump they rabble roused their countries into disasterous populism with no thought for sound governance. In the interests of humanity their days of influence have to be numbered.

vegansrock Sun 19-Apr-20 08:16:23

We know he isn't interested in crisis management, he didn’t attend Cobra meeting till 5 weeks after the virus had entered the U.K. Fan club members can make excuses all they like, but it’s indefensible really. He didn’t take it seriously, with all that take it on the chin, it’ll all be over in 12 weeks, Operation Last Gasp nonsense. Let’s hope he takes it seriously now, but there aren’t any hopeful signs. Trouble is, we are being so gaslighted into believing its all the fault of someone else, and it’s all fine really, we don’t know what to believe.

Chewbacca Sun 19-Apr-20 08:16:42

Some think that he was hospitalised because he had a meltdown and not because of CV19.

Making the dedicated team of doctors and nurses who treated him for CV19, and cared for him in an intensive care unit, complete and utter liars? Do you really think that Jenny McGee and Luis Patarma, 2 dedicated and well respected nurses were lying about who they they cared for and why? You should be utterly ashamed of yourself Niobe. angry

Oopsadaisy3 Sun 19-Apr-20 08:30:29

The whole thread is disgusting and should be taken down.
Paddyanne, how many more ways can you have a pop at the Government?
A new low for you.

Anniebach Sun 19-Apr-20 08:33:20

Corbyn did more than anyone to get Johnson into No.10

Galaxy Sun 19-Apr-20 08:35:28

Why on earth should the thread be taken down. Are you planning to ban the independent as well.

Niobe Sun 19-Apr-20 08:57:17

Ban the Sunday Times too while you're at it Oopadaisy3?

GagaJo Sun 19-Apr-20 08:59:43

Well, if we’re taking down stuff we disagree with, I’ll start making a list!

Don’t see how you can disapprove of the thread if he DID miss the meetings. Is it a fact?

Hetty58 Sun 19-Apr-20 09:04:10

Oopsadaisy - it's a discussion, nothing wrong with it.

Grany, there are many Labour voters here in London, not necessarily 'working class'. Some of us even 'upper class'. I agree the media have a lot to answer for, though.

The last election was skewed by the small matter of Brexit. A significant number of voters held their noses and voted Tory (but only for once) - just to leave.

Cindersdad, Tony Blair, really? He made my skin crawl. New 'Labour' was when the rot really set in!

Niobe Sun 19-Apr-20 09:11:17

Chewbacca, 'I said Time will tell' not that I agreed with them. However the fact that a Prime Minister of the U.K. could miss 5 COBRA meetings at a time of an impending pandemic speaks for itself. His excuse was that he was dealing with matters of a personal, domestic nature.
