The effect of COVID-19 on the UK would probably have been less severe had Brexit not taken place. The statistics should give factors per million people then we could see just how we are doing.

SirChenjin I was reading an article this morning about the tactics of populists. Apparently, "poor me" is the second stage of the process, so you could be right. Hair more ruffled than usual, unshaven, clothes and tie crumpled - wouldn't mind betting he'll appear in a briefing very soon and tell everybody how he's so grateful for the heroic NHS. They'll all want to be heroes to please the Glorious Leader, so will step forward to treat everybody wearing nothing at all.

Cummings meanwhile will look scruffier than normal (with his butt hanging out of his trousers) in the hope that his appearance will distract from his dastardly plans and role as a "Senior Whitehall Source".
