Johnson has decided to pay £900k to get the official government plane painted red white and blue!!

Dear oh dear.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 17-Jun-20 19:01:04

It is also used by members of the Royal Family.........they should have probably waited awhile.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 17-Jun-20 19:02:30

I can imagine what they think. Toe curling.

Does anyone know if Johnson drinks a tad too much? He seemed very odd today at PMQs

vampirequeen Wed 17-Jun-20 20:50:25

Why would you do that? A plane is a plane. Does the colour matter? Does the country have £900K to fritter away in this way?

annsixty Wed 17-Jun-20 21:26:09

How can we possibly respect a decision by someone who doesn’t know what a comb is or how to use it?
This has bothered me for years now.

paddyanne Wed 17-Jun-20 21:35:54

looked as if he was on something, that wide eyed Gove look or the guy who was chancellor cant even remember HIS name there have been so many recently bt he always looked high on an illegal substance

Daisymae Wed 17-Jun-20 21:54:42

Not that there's anything more pressing to spend the money on. Schools?

paddyanne Wed 17-Jun-20 22:04:52

its small change compared to a royal yacht !

Lucca Wed 17-Jun-20 22:07:18

I’d be interested to see if anyone actually says it’s a good idea.

Lucca Wed 17-Jun-20 22:08:09

I mean how can they be finding the time to discuss trivia like this at the moment, it’s an insult.

Eloethan Thu 18-Jun-20 00:03:17

Ridiculous.

suziewoozie Thu 18-Jun-20 00:08:40

It just demonstrates the tin ear yet again doesn’t it? This is just so not the time to release this information or is it just sheer GFery?

MaizieD Thu 18-Jun-20 00:17:13

I'm now seeing on twitter that there are plans, once the Development Aid ministry has been swallowed up by the Foreign Office, for some of the aid money to be used to build a new Royal Yacht.

I can't believe that's true, I'll check it out in the morning.

If it is true, I wonder what all those small minded people who can't bear wasting any of 'our' money on foreigners will think of the idea...

suziewoozie Thu 18-Jun-20 01:45:06

It’s Penny Mordaunt who’s calling for this. I wonder who’s put her up to it?

Elrel Thu 18-Jun-20 02:29:21

It seems he wasn’t happy that the plane was grey, unbelievable.

absent Thu 18-Jun-20 05:51:43

A perfect target for a terrorist with a ground-to-air missile shortly after take-off. Grey, on the other hand, is hard to spot or to distinguish from other planes.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 18-Jun-20 06:22:25

As an aside, does anyone know if Johnson drinks? The reason I ask, is that I thought his behaviour and demeanour at PMQs this week very odd. Well, more odd then usual that is!

Whitewavemark2 Thu 18-Jun-20 06:23:57

All this and reports that they are after stopping the triple lock on our pension.

We already have the worst pension in Europe.

Lucca Thu 18-Jun-20 07:09:13

Won’t affect the wealthy so that’s fine

J52 Thu 18-Jun-20 07:55:35

Couldn’t make it up, could you?
Do we really have so much money sloshing around for such a vanity project?
I despair, when people are hungry, homeless and jobless. I won’t go on or I’ll get banned, so for the moment words fail me. God help us all!

Urmstongran Thu 18-Jun-20 08:33:33

‘Fly the Flag’ for the U.K. what’s wrong with that? We are entering the final stages of negotiations with the E.U. Seems as good a time as any to be promoting Britain.
?? ?

vampirequeen Thu 18-Jun-20 08:47:47

There'd be nothing wrong with frittering £900K if we had plenty of spare money but we don't. Although its not a huge amount of money in the grand scheme of things, there are plenty of other things that £900K could be spent on atm.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 18-Jun-20 08:50:28

ug do you whizz your posts off without a moments thought?

Not even Trump has resorted to such poor taste.

Do you have any concept of the financial problems facing the UK following the pandemic ?

b1zzle Thu 18-Jun-20 08:55:56

Covid has cost this country more money than we could ever imagine and we, the great British Taxpayer will be penalised to make up the deficit: £900K would have gone a long way to softening that blow.
