Not sure how this can work. It’s a recommendation. Just like I believe those 500,000 on Bournemouth beach received the same recommendation. Worked well.
a huge list of places in England facing a new lockdown just appeared on FB .Surely this is part of Boris' plan? He wanted a second wave over before the winter flu season, looks like it might happen .Not saving lives ,putting them in danger by easing rules/not being tough on rules .Lockdown was always half hearted, maybe now some will take notice and follow advice
Words don't fail me Chew, it's herd immunity, it has always been the plan 'so what if a few old folk die?' Cummings positively endorses it His actions, going to Barnard Castle and Johnson's failure to condemn and sack him, gave the green light for the free for all, that we are now seeing The Government's advice has been very woolly Is it incompetence, is it deliberate? I know one thing, it's confusing, it's obsufication. The rules are not clear They need to be!
Are people checked when they return home here from overseas? More flights were resumed from Pakistan not long ago and Pakistan has had a spike in cases. Leicester has a relatively high ethnic minority population. People may be desperate to get home as they were stuck there when charter flights ceased, and they have been unable to return here during lockdown.
listening to LBC radio now, 3 people from Leicester have rung in, to say that in one area everyone has carried on as normal and never observed the original lockdown. no masks worn. all the stores and workshops continued trading. traffic etc. i don't know but this is what they are saying. the son of a GP just on.
I wrote this on another thread. 'It was in the Telegraph. 1/2 all imported cases have come from Pakistan.65,000 people have entered the UK from Pakistan since March 1st. 2 flights per day. 30 cases since 4th June have been from Pakistan. Some people literally go straight to hospital. The Emirates have suspended flights from Pakistan and there is risk of spread to Europe via air bridges'. Also, hasn't there been an outbreak at a meat processing plant in Leicester? They seem to create virus hotspots throughout the world. Why is no one checking to see if the virus in Leicester is the same as the one currently in Pakistan ?
"Data from Public Health England (PHE) shows that 30 cases of coronavirus in people who have^ travelled from Pakistan since June 4, which is understood to represent half of the incidents ofimported infection.
With up to two flights a day from Pakistan, there have been reports of some arrivals almostinstantly going to hospital for intensive care, amid concerns that the influx has led to localisedclusters....
The cases are mostly in the Eastern area of the city. There are British Indian, (Punjabi and Gujerati) communities there but also a white British community.
Im not sure why people think the Pakistani community is responsible for the spike. Its a small part of the population and not in the Eastern area.
It's starting to sound like a bit of a witch hunt to me.
The working conditions in the meat packing factories seem to be responsible for outbreaks in several regions, not just Leicester. I don't know why Public Health England have linked the flights coming in from Pakistan as of significant interest either and in any case, there's no indication that any more people on those flights are destined to go to the Leicestershire area than anywhere else in the UK.

minimum wage. sweatshops. garment factories. owners putting wealth before health. that's what a man whose father died on 24th may, aged 58, said.
It would be a great opportunity to find out what's happened and try to avoid it happening elsewhere.
If only the data were more transparent!
Sir Peter Soulsby, the Mayor of Leicester, and Matt Hancock had a long conference meeting today. Soulsby had been saying how frustrated he was that he wasn't being given detailed information to take action. Other mayors and county leaders have been saying the same and wrote to Hancock a couple of weeks ago.
