Well that was a disgraceful exhibition. Sir Lindsay Hoyle even had to intervene.

I agree. To add to our woes the appointment of Tony Abbot as Trade Envoy. When will this all end?

Lucca Thu 03-Sep-20 07:40:16

Link if possible ? I didn’t see it

In a few years’ time?

You mean this bit Furret?
I agree, disgraceful.

I thought deliberately lying to the House was a punishable offence?

Johnson continues with his extraordinarily poor performance at PMQs and compounded it by lying.

The 1922 committee were so alarmed at his performance that he was called to give an explanation last evening.
Johnson is on notice and rightly so.

Furret Thu 03-Sep-20 07:53:19

Even the few Tories in the chamber had the grace to look embarrassed.

Esspee Thu 03-Sep-20 07:55:02

He showed himself in a very bad light during QT. Disgraceful performance.

John Crace’s article today absolutely sums yesterday up. I can only cut and paste the whole thing which people might not appreciate, but read it if you get the chance, or some kind person puts on a link?

Galaxy Thu 03-Sep-20 08:07:20

It must have been such a surprise that Starmer asked him about the situation in schools for example, how could he ha

Galaxy Thu 03-Sep-20 08:08:43

How could he have predicted that. It will be his lack of work ethic that will be his undoing I think.

Thanks.

from the last PMQs
Johnson: Do you support children going back to school?
Starmer: I do, yes.
Johnson: You see! He won’t say whether he’s in favour on not!

An exchange worthy of Trump.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 03-Sep-20 08:18:42

“John Crace at his absolute best. This is sketch is short on the usual satire, but the cold understated seriousness of the state of our PM, of our government & of our country requires serious attention.”

Whitewavemark2 Thu 03-Sep-20 08:23:54

Johnson at the beginning of PMQs.

“It’s outrageous that a chemical weapon was used against Alexey Navalny. We have seen first-hand the deadly consequences of Novichok in the UK. The Russian government must now explain what happened to Mr Navalny – we will work with international partners to ensure justice is done.”

Caldwalldre.

“After British citizens were attacked by a chemical weapon, Boris Johnson left a NATO summit on Russian sanctions, gave his security detail the slip, flew to Italy & met an ex KGB officer whose son he’s just ennobled. That’s what’s outrageous. That’s what needs to be explained“

Whitewavemark2 Thu 03-Sep-20 08:27:39

Johnson on refusing to apologise to Starmer for his IRA jibe.

“Remember when The IRA blew up Cavalry in Hyde Park, the Tory Conference in Brighton, Harrods, Pubs in Guildford, The MP Airey Neave & Lord Mountbatten, I remember, don't let
@BorisJohnson
forget & ask him why is was that he awarded a peerage to Claire Fox an IRA apologist?“

This is all so very worrying, not because of Boris' idiocy - we all know about that - but because if he gets the boot we might get Gove, which is not to be countenanced. What a sorry state our government is in.

I would like to think that Boris is crumbling because he knows he has left the potential for 50,000 unnecessary deaths to accumulate over coronavirus incompetene (see Independent SAGE, David King) but I believe it is because he is simply not up to the job - too lazy, too deceitful, too morally empty.

He is not going to change; only get worse as the stress accumulates. Even my GC can see he is an idiot and comment accordingly when they catch a bit of him on TV. What sort of message is this to them?

Urmstongran Thu 03-Sep-20 08:36:11

I voted for Boris - to get Brexit done. (Anyway t’other choice was Corbyn - nuff said!). I’m happy with how strong David Frost and the negotiating team are. Barnier is rattled that we won’t extend the transition period. After 1 January 2021 it won’t matter to me whether Boris stays or goes.

Actually I think he’ll stay. But Gove would be good moving forward. He’s smart and on top of his brief.

Furret Thu 03-Sep-20 08:41:10

The subject is Boris and his outburst. The man is clearly out of his depth - not what you need in the middle of a global pandemic.

Lucca Thu 03-Sep-20 08:47:30

If it hadn’t be for Cameron and this stupid referendum we probably would not have been faced with the dreadful choice of Johnson or Gove.(or even Corbyn)
One wonders if Johnson were replaced with a Dalek some would still support it as long as it got Brexit done.

Lucca Thu 03-Sep-20 08:48:32

However to stay on topic I thought the outburst was appalling and typical of someone who can’t seem to conduct a cogent argument in spite of his much vaunted classical education.

Sarnia Thu 03-Sep-20 08:52:52

He is out of his depth as PM. His Government has overseen a pantomime of inept MPs and advisors unable to do their job and passing the buck. I am hoping if he continues with his almost daily U-turns he might finally disappear up his own arse.

NannyJan53 Thu 03-Sep-20 08:55:00

There lies the crux of the matter. An incompetent man was voted in for PM purely on one issue...Brexit.

NannyJan53 Thu 03-Sep-20 08:56:26
