Tax evasion or fake news?

The New York Times has released what they claim to be Donald Trump’s tax records for 2 decades. He paid $750 the year he became President and zero tax in 10 of the 15 previous years. Wasn’t that the period when he was allegedly a highly successful multimillionaire businessman?

He has fought to avoid his tax records being made public. Can’t believe a word he says... definitely evasion.

Mr Trump will say anything and everything is fake news if he finds it unpalatable.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 28-Sep-20 09:01:04

He has been a bankrupt numerous times.

If it is fake news then he should be challenged to be transparent about his tax affairs.

Trump is the only President or presidential candidate to have refused to release his tax returns.

When in one 2016 debate he was accused of tax evasion hw said "that makes me smart"

I'm surprised you need to ask!

Do we get to see Boris’s tax returns?

Grannynannywanny Mon 28-Sep-20 10:26:04

Trump is the first President in over 50 years who has refused to release his tax records. I suppose it’s not surprising that he had something to hide.

Esspee

Do we get to see Boris’s tax returns?

Is Johnson the PM of the USA ?

I should have thought they had enough to put up with

This explains all the pussy-footing about. So obviously the truth.

Will it influence his supporters? Probably not.

Kevin, a lifelong Republican voter and pastor from Arizona, says he voted for Trump in 2016 “with high hopes for the future”. He knew that Trump didn’t have the same political experience as the other contenders, but he was optimistic he could grow into his new role.

Now he says: “I’ve seen how he has tried to divide our country and that is not something I want, nor what our country should have … This man is an absolute danger to our country.”

Kevin’s experience – of voting for Trump and then quickly realizing he’d made a mistake – is one of many being used by Republican Voters Against Trump (RVAT), which wants to boot Trump out of office later this year.

We have to hope that enough former Trump voters have seen through him by now.

I am currently reading ‘Too Much and Not Enough’ by Mary Trump, his Psychologist niece.

She says that when certain family members heard Trump was a Presidential candidate, they were incredulous because as he has been bankrupt five times, they were certain no one would take him seriously.

I have no doubt the NY Times is reporting accurately. Indeed didn’t they win a Pulitzer Prize in 2018 for reporting on his pre-Presidential company tax affairs?

I think the man is a crook.

I wonder if this will be Trumps death knell?

At the moment polls
States solidly in favour of Trump = 125

States solidly in favour of Biden = 225

Undecided = 158

McCain was Republican senator for Arizona- and his wife now endorses Biden and not Trump. She said 'we are Republicans, but Americans first'. So like Kevin, marge numbers of Reps in AZ are now supporting Biden.

welbeck Mon 28-Sep-20 17:24:10

the trouble is that the bulk of his electorate are not amenable to reason, else they would never have considered voting for him.

varian Mon 28-Sep-20 18:02:03

Let us just hope that there are enough former Trump voters who have seen what a fraud he is - like these Republicans for Biden.

It’s a mystery how anyone can even contemplate voting for him. I can’t stand the look of him or the sound of him and that’s even before we get to the lies and crap that spew from his mind and mouth.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 29-Sep-20 15:32:18

The first debate is today. Not sure what time. Probably see it tomorrow?

I think it is for Biden‘s to lose tbh.
