1/2 term begins today, what will happen to pupils who board at their school?

at my grandson's school, they come from all over the UK and many from abroad- many returned from abroad, some from China, after February half-term:

As at all holidays, the boarders will go home or to their guardians.

Best to phone the school biba and they can explain what measures will be taken.

They could stay with a friend and their parents or stay at school in extremis.

They will stay at school. My school has chosen to send them (with me, house parent) to an activity camp.

All boarders from abroad have a designated guardian in the UK, either a relative or a paid guardian.

Even in these Covid times, children will return to their parents/guardians in the UK, unless there are some extreme measures in place.

As to whom the schools allow to return after half-term is anyone's guess!

Kalu, not asking about any specific school- but the general principle. My last school in the UK was a boarding school (State) and we often hosted students who could not go back home for half-term- but currently it is totally different if kids are supposed to return to parents, etc, who live in High risk zone, or abroad.

A school local to me has arranged for all overseas boarders to stay together in one boarding house. They will have a full programme of leisure activities and use of the gym, swimming pool and other facilities. The main problem is that many professional guardians live in tier 2 areas, so can’t have them to stay for half term as they normally would.

We often hosted our sons friends over half term if their parents were abroad.
It’s quite usual for overseas students to only return home for the 3 long breaks.

Private schools have access to government guidelines same as any other schools. They will need to follow those.
I can't imagine any business, which private schools are, not having looked closely at its service and business plan during the ongoing pandemic and putting stand by arrangements in place. I can see it is hard for the young people but thatvis what parents have chosen for them.

Exactly PECS. I took a Japanese girl for a Covid test today. The fees her parents pay, with lots of additional extras, cover one to one attention and care from staff.
